My 924S has a 944S2 3 L motor, and since about May, a Vitesse MAF with piggyback. The reason for the MAF was primarily to improve low end response, which I felt was lacking with the OEM AFM.

One of the issues with MAFs is that they are very sensitive to turbulence, and prefer to see about a foot of pipe before e.g. a K&N filter install. With a LARGE filter behind the light bucket, that was just not going to happen.

After MAF ibnstall, I had surging from low speed, but a much improved top end: Not at all what I expected beforehand!

I did some research, and came across this: http://www.saxonpc.com/100mm-cells-for-100.html It's cheap, and the delivery service received from them was excellent, given I'm in the UK. Result: No more surging.

I have no connection to them whatsoever, but if you've got a MAF without a decent propper large filter chamber, I hope this solution helps..

Yeah, and neither does my lawnmower. FYI.

Yeah but the 2.5S model could do, and therefore this is sound performance related info.

where do you mount this thing? inside the mass airflow sensor? so after the filter?

You mount it in the MAF tubing right before the actual sensor. The cells straighten air flow for more accurate MAF thermal transfer. This is an advantage at low speeds where air turbulence can cause the MAF readings to be all over the place (which causes ECU fuel demand to be all over the place). It's really a fuel saver and performance mod all in one for cars without honecomb cells in their MAF stock, especially custom installs.

I like this info too.
Not that I'm using a MAF, but i could... and this seems sensible.
