I have a 1980 Porsche 924 NA in my possesion. Its in good running order and me and a friend at work had an idea. I have very little money into the car, and we have both always wanted to try one of those 700$ ebay turbo kits, just for s**** and giggles. This one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Race-T3T4-T3-T4-TurboCharger-Turbo-Boost-Kit-NEW-DESIGN-STREET-STRIP-SALE-/350800738348?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1980

What would I need other than whats in the kit. Obviously a turbo exhaust manifold off of a 924 turbo, and what else? These kits dont make more then like 9psi of boost btw. Thanks for any help!

you will need a programmable engine management system / efi setup (fuel rail, injectors, bungs) and a custom turbo manifold... plus dump pipe to original exhaust pipe,
stock turbo manifold uses external wastegate, j pipe, down pipe and will not bolt to n/a head, also uses fire rings to seal and the recesses are also not machined the n/a head...
BTW you can still grenade your high compression motor off 9 psi from incorrect fueling or timing

You can turbocharge your engine without any custom manifold! Just make a crossover pipe and fit the turbo where CIS used to be if you will use EFI.

924 NA head has quite poor flow capabilities so the 9.3 compression is not the same as on say hi-flow 4v heads...

If you can fabricate some things yourself, definitely go for it because the car will be totally different and blast to drive.
