I want to slam my 924, but I wanna do it cheap. It doesn't have to handle, it doesn't have to have a good ride, it just has to be cool.

This isn't something I would normally ever, ever do... But I'm bored.

How do you suggest to do it?! I promise to post pics as a reward for your help

Reduce the ride height by 5 inches.

Lol. Oh and one other thing I should've mentioned is "simple, cheap, and SAFE(ish)."

500 pounds of sand is cheapest

Weltmeister springs in front and lower rear torsion bar is next cheapest.

Coil overs in front and/or rear would be most spendy.

Actually, just re-index the existing rear torsion bars to the new ride height you want and cut some coils off the front springs. No cost, just wasted work.

Keep in mind that the spring rate won't change so you'll basically be running on the bump stops. This is a dangerous way to drive.

A better idea for your "solution" would be to removing the torsion bars altogether and install shorter shocks with adjustable coil springs.

The front is essentially the same as a 1st gen rabbit, check out the VWVortex for information on their idiocy called "hella flush" that should give you all the information you need and we won't have to read about all the problems you encounter.

While staying in LA with my brother, we blew out one the air shocks on his E39 5 series wagon... being the only car for the both of us, I had to ride around LA for about a week on bump stops... needless to say, my kidneys where angry with me.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I am strongly considering cutting them, and maybe put in the 'proper' parts later... Either way I will be sure to let you know how horrible the ride is

How to slam a 924:
First you talk about how it's not really a Porsche with it's VW van engine and all.

Then you can say it's butt ugly with all it's narrowness and how the US models have those ridiculous round reflectors and stupid bumpers.

Then you can mention how the '44 is a way better car and looks so much better, and even the 914 is far superior.

Oh, don't forget to say how they don't hold their value no matter how much money you dump into it.

I'm sure I'm missing something...Oh...what was this about? Never mind all that .

I get it now, I'd like to go about an inch or two...

I would buy some used weltmeister springs and cut 3-4 of the dead coils off.

Then take out the rear torsion bars and re index them. I'd suggest getting some thicker ones, since if youre going to go through the trouble of reindexing you might as well spend a couple hundred dollars to get stiffer bars. 30mm in torsion bars and welt 250s in front.

Total spent: $300
Ride quality: Not Total Crap
Hella Flush: Yes

For extra canibeat cool points, purchase optional $99 mookah camber plates and find some 195mm wide tyres for your 9 inch rims..

In not too long, I should have a set. Otherwise ebay or paragon has them.
