Christian,
Congrats on your first place, keep it up. I did buy an '88 924S that is in excellent condition (low 40K miles) and is up to date on all engine maintanence. I'm in the process of doing some upgrades including new wheels (most likely 7x15's), roll bar, brakes, and suspension. I also need to put the car on a diet and get some racing seats and a good harness. Unfortunately, these things take time since my work keeps me very busy. Hopefully, I'll have most of this completed prior to the DE at Barber in July.
What size tires do you run on your 7x15 phone dials? _________________ Tim

Good question on the phone dials. I use them for my rains, which are 225/50 Yokes. I have yet to mount my racing tires, 225/45 on a set of phone dials, but I will. Hooiser has cautioned me on this because with that low profile the tread plain will "bow" out because the rim is about 1/2" too narrow. I'm going to do it anyways for a set of practice slicks. Not perfect, but a sacrifice with the 924 tight fenders. When shopping for phone dial, be sure you get the right P/N with the right offset (7JX15ET52.3 944.362.104.00)

Works fine for me, 225/45/15 Hoosiers on late-offset phonedials. Haven't lost or blown a tire yet. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Will a pair of 951.362.104 with 23mm offset fit if I add a 30mm spacer? _________________ Tim

I don't think so Tim. The 23mm offset is too little. At spacer actually brings the offset the wrong way. The 23mm wheel needs to come 'in' to the center of the car more. The spacer pushes it 'out'. _________________ John

Thanks John, that's exactly what I was trying to find out. Glad I didn't bid on them. _________________ Tim

All you need is plain old 'late' offset 944 phone dials. I don't watch Ebay much but it seems to me most of the wheels there go for way too much money. 7X15 52.3ET phone dials should be free as everyone want to go to 16 or bigger. (The 52.3 ET is the marking inside the wheel for offset. Never have found what the ET stands for) Likewise, the 6X15 wheels are, unfortunately, almost worthless.
I have paid anything from nothing to $50 each for 7X15 phone dials. 6X15 were free and I gave them away when I was done with them. _________________ John
