Well, I got my car back together, (see http://924board.org/viewtopic.php?topic=1795&forum=1&6 ) and the heater now works great. One thing though, I turn the key and the car does not crank, nor does the fuel pump come on. All my dash lights work, my radio and so on come on, just nothing when trying to crank. The battery has a full charge and I did not make any changes while I had the dash off... any ideas? I need help fast, I needr this car on the road before the end of the week, for I am moving. Thanx in advance...

Only thing I can say is go back through and look for loose wires and check all your connections. I'd start at the ignition switch and then move my way back.
Good luck |

Are you getting power to the ignition switch circuit that then sends power to the starter and fuel pump relay? I would check that. Then see if the fuel pump relay is getting power and so on. Very likely you just knocked off a connection some where and tracing the wires is the only way to get there from here.
Good luck

Have you confirmed that the ignition switch has not failed??? Very common problem. Instructions on how to do this (by hotwiring the car) are in the Tech Section... it's quick and easy.

You can jumper 12vdc from the battery to one of the pins on the connector that goes down to the starter. I beleive it is the red/black wire. If this works start tracing back. BTW what year.

you guys are going to laugh at me, but what ever. I was trying to think of a long technical explination, but failed to do so. I tracked down the problem to be do to the fact that the car was in drive. DOOHH!! I must have forgotten to put it back in park after installing the center console. I drove my car to work today, I had forgotten how much fun this damn car is to drive. Ill take more/better pictures soon.
Its a 1978' 924, 3 speed auto.

Intermittant application of proper operating procedures, prevented the implimentation of the vehichles ignition systems and caused the subsequant failure of the vehichle to start properly, and thus preventing the operator from transporting himself to a remote location in a timely manner
check all the little stupid stuff before digging in or you'll get half way through a cluth replacement on a 4x4 just to find the pushrod on the slave cylinder was knocked out of place |
