Got my first Porsche, a 1982 924 when I was 15 in November of 2002. Replaced the starter among other things, then sold it for a profit. Combined that with the money I saved, bought a 1988 944, and drove that daily for a while. Got tired of not having something to fix, so I bought a 79 924 project, and a 77 parts car. Almost done rebuilding the 79's engine, and new suspension/brake parts go in pretty soon. Then I got a 78 924 for free. Then last week, sold the 88 944 to avoid doing the expensive maintenance, and bought myself a 1977 VW Rabbit to drive daily ($800).

Hi, my name is Dmitry, I'm 16 years old, on my 5th Porsche, my 1st Volkswagen, and I have an addiction.

Dmitri,

go on rehab buy a Honda Accord. Nothing to fix for a long time.

Real nice that being 16 you have a hobby and make some money on it.

I am happy for you.

I'm 27. I bought my first and only Porsche on August 7, 2003.
I love my 931 but as some others have said, it would be nice to actually be driving it. However, my issue isn't with mechanical problems; I have to pay back the insurance company almost $2000 for someone else's nefarious act. Trust me, it's a long story and I'm not in the mood to tell it again

I'm 49 and have always been a Porsche fan since living in Heidelberg Germany as a kid. My full blown addiction started in september of "99", when I went out for lunch and watched this guy push a 78na to the end of his driveway with a for sale sign. I went back after work and bought it. I drove it home and then commited to a complete restoration, inside and out. This 924 is my first Porsche but I have owned several other muscle and euro sports cars. This bad boy is the most fun to drive, it's like a sharp pencil......it goes where you point it.

Just turned 28 two weeks ago Bought my car in 2001 when I was 25.

My obsession (and it is an obsession...) started when I was eight years old and my parents bought me an R/C 935 in Martini colours for Christmas. It was the wildest looking thing I'd ever seen and, once I had it explaind to me what it was, I've loved Porsches ever since.

My best mate's old man bought a near-mint condition silver 924 Turbo around '88-89 (I was about 13 years old) and took us for a spin the day he got it and again! Looked like a bullet, felt like sitting in a jet-fighter and was THE FASTEST thing I'd ever been in! I had to have one...

Now I do

Well ... I am 21 with 31 years of experience
Built quite a few cars up from the mush but this is only the second one I really couldn't see a reason to puff up on. It was actually an accident that I aquired it. I saw an add in the nickle for "87 Porsche 924, runs gut, $1800" Asked the wife if she wanted to go drive a Porsche if he still had it ... she drove it and "MADE" me buy it. (I Love My Wife)
It's kinda puny on the git go but it sure is fun once it gets rolling The tires on ti were 10 years old so I got new ones Friday. Now I am starting to be impressed

41 until June. Originally bought my 931 back in 1984 when I was 24, and the weird way insurance in the UK works is that at the age of 25 you instantly become a safe, careful driver and your premiums drop drastically - just as well as it was costing hundreds of pounds a month up till then!

Sold the car to a mate about nine years later because I hardly ever used it, he then sold it to another mate who sold it back to me last year. It came back to me with a new head gasket, brand new turbo, top class alarm and central locking fitted. Handy.

Only ever bought one car new - Rover 620ti (also 2 litre turbo) - which I got for work use because they were discontinued and being given away at half list price with low interest finance. Got rid of it last year.

Mr. Kenodog your fun factor answer is:

The modified 924 track car About 120K
then the 931 Euro 80K
the 944 85.5 150K
the 911 Targa 40K

Remember I have owned the track car since new in 1977 and kind of grew up with it. It is tight, raw and a blast to drive fast. Very clean but gutted.

The 931 is a very fast car but kind of a sleeper that gets pushed rarely. Note expensive to fix. Mint condition

The 944 is the most comfortable, relaxing, gas miser [35 mph highway]
and a good handler. good condition

The 87 911 is a rarely run car that is twitchy and you have to always think about what you are doing. I never seem to know which gear I am in. The gears overlap and you could be in fourth and do 120 and think you are in 5th. Come to a turn hot and you may be in for a surprise. Mint condition

Well I've become so crusty that I settle for just one candle in the shape of a question mark on the birthday cake. One for each year would be a fire hazard at this point. I'll be 45 for a few more months and got my 931 in '92 when it was about 10 and I was 34. It's only my 5th vehicle and I currently have my 5th and 6th (an '86 Jeep Cherokee). I've been in the habit of buying used, fixing and keeping them running.

Guess I'm in the middle... I'm 33, bought my first and only Porsche, the 1978 924 n/a on 19th October 2001 and she's the first and only one within my immediate family... Plan on keeping the car as long as possible, it's part of the family now... when time & funds allow we'll get another just to make sure there'll always be one running at all times.

Couldn't imagine not having the car now, despite the quirkiness at times (we don't call them *faults* in case she overhears us talking about her!)...
