When I joined this board I was thinking that the bulk of the members here would probably be a little older than myself... but not much.
As it's common knowledge, no-one over the age of 50 can work a computer
But seriously, I'm 31 now.... OMG, I really am.
I bought my 931 when I was 29.
It was my first Porsche, bought on my sons 3rd Birthday. Thus I plan it to oneday be his.
No one in my family, (that I know of), has owned a Porsche.
Anyway, I was kind of curious what the adverage age here is.
The adverage age when buying your first Porsche.
And was it a family thing to be interested in Porsche's?
Those who are too old to remember, don't worry about it... a guess will do. _________________ 81' 931 |

First new Porsche 911 1969, then the 924NA new 1977, then the 911 Targa in 1987, then 944 in 1994 and finally the 931 in 1998.
My age is 66. I still own the 924, 931, 944 and the targa. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

He's not the youngest, I'm 22 .... I think there are a few younger then that yet
guess I'll add that my husband (min) was the first in either of our familys to get a porsche, he was 17. A few years later I got mine for just before my 19th birthday, which Min bought for me. _________________ 1980 n/a with EDIS and Megasquirt II Injection v2.684 betacode.

50. Definitely not a mid life crisis as I bought it in 98, and worked on it till last fall when I broke the new motor in. I believe my mid life crisis time came and went in the interim. I've wanted to own a Porsche of some kind since the first time I saw one run at a race track. I was around 18 at the time.
Truthfully, my wife and I look forward to spending some quality time together in the two seater now that the kids have grown and are mostly gone. It's our time. Why not do it in a Porsche. It's only the kids' inheritance. _________________ Doodle

Well, I'm 17....
Saved up all summer for no reason...then stumbled across the idea of getting a Porsche. Of course it doesn't really drive right now, so maybe I don't make this list.
Who knows these days?

I'm 35. Bought my first Porsche on August 3rd, 2003 (I was 34 then) on Ebay and drove the 525 miles to pick it up on August 26th. Funny, I couldn't remember the ex-wife's birthday (Note the "ex") but I can remember the day I picked up my first Porsche. I had wanted one since I was a kid. Nobody in the family had ever owned one. Since then I have also bought two 944's. Currently preparing for complete restorations on the 924 and one of the 944's. The snow is finally gone (for the moment) so it's time to get busy! _________________ '79 924 & '84 944 |

52, my first Porsche was a 1966 912 that I bought in the mid 70's.
I grew up in the hills of PA where the definition of rich was: "able to afford a second used car" so it wasn't in the family. |

47 last October. First P car was a '77 924 N/A I bought in 1983. First wife wrapped it around a light pole in Dec the same year. Got the 931 in '84 and bought a new 951 in '86. . . Had to sell the 951 in '90 because I couldn't afford to maintain it. Still have the 931, and hope to have it back on the road this weekend after a complete rebuild. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
