Need some advice as I ponder this choice. I'm not sure it will be cheaper for me to do LP/F than the Full E. Part of my struggle comes from never having dealt with a "whole" 924 in the first place. My first contact with this car was after the fire, and the decision to build it was based more on availability than rationality. But I also knew the potential was there.

Here is the cost kicker. LP/F requires the stock FI, E allows dual carbs. Everything else can be considered equal for the time being. Full prep gives me the opportunity to spend more money on the engine. Weight is 2200 for both classes.

The fuel distributor, fuel lines, airbox, and every piece of wire forward of the back seat were destroyed in the fire. I don't know if there is damage to the throttle body. It looks OK. Don't know if the injectors themselves survived, but I expect that they did.

The carbs and manifold new are approx $1200 if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps $800 used (if even available).

It looks like the distributor is $800. That would be a wash, except I also have no controls or wiring harnesses. How much does that entail?

I realize that one option is to score a parts car and transfer over these pieces.

There is a simplicity to the carbs.

Thoughts?

Sounds like more of a headache than it's worth. I would used the burned up car as a tub and get another working 924 and transfer most of the components there. Or get and 944 suspension on ebay or something and do the upgrade.

Do not know what your goal is but the e car will take a lot more money to build and keep running if you build to take advantage of all that is allowed , which means no limit on compression , dry sump and any suspension including rear coilovers we had asked for a carb option but really were glad to get as much as we did , in regional races the e f g h and some gt run together I think as a f car we could still be in middle of pack and maybe make podium in f in e you would be running against possibly some very fast cars , not the fastest but just an example is 944 at 2450 lbs loaded making 200 hp that is just 250 lbs more , the limited production idea is to be cheaper with less up keep , that remains to be seen btw I know that the gcr list the 944 e prod weight higher but it was dropped mid year to 2450 , with driver

Sure, carbs seem simple, till you have a running CIS system. They're even simpler, not to mention far more robust, IMO.
