If my memory is right it was chromabase. Once you added all the flex additives and other B.S. my total bill was right at $500.00 USD. If you take that paint to Macco they will paint your car with their paint and keep yours for their own cars.

Though I haven't "re-painted" many cars, I have done several concours restorations of 1930's rare American cars. I have moved on from auto restoration but still work with a friend who has done probably 100 re-paints. He comes to me for advice and vice versa. I think the bottom line is this: it doesn't matter where you go - you need to find the right prepper and painter. Though many people ask me to paint their cars, I refuse because I know how much work is involved and I'm a perfectionist. My friend typically does complete jobs for about $1000 plus materials (~$700) and he does an awesome job. He has done enough that he knows how to do it fast and what works.
I guess my advice is to do as much prep as you can yourself, KNOW your problem areas (unless you want to find them later), and find a good painter whose work you can see on his own car or cars he has painted. High school body shops are good places to look for eager painters who want to do a good job on the side.
