It's clear and it makes sense. What I'm experiencing with the GT style intercooler on the top is that I have to now re-do the intake to the cooler to maximise the effect. Just plopping it on there like Porsche did with a wee shroud and hood scoop was not efficient. So what I failed to do when I installed mine was PLAN PLAN PLAN and MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE. A week or two researching and a day or two planning will save tons in the long run.

I'm measuring intake temperature once the head is back on, and that'll be my baseline...long story.

Three things I like about that: Inside the engine bay, so less piping, but really well insulated from engine heat. Plus, the guy must be drawing the cool air from beneath the cooler. The question I have about that setup is: Would the outlet air be free from the air resistance problems Vaughan cited?

that pic of the flat mount ic is from a race RX7 (boo hiss) built by Signal in Japan. There's no pics showing the hood/bonnet outlets from the intercooler, just 2 931-style ducts on each side.

The ic looks like it's sitting very high and obviously fed from a scoop underneath.

Like the idea of the radiator getting fed some fresh air as well.

Ok now I'm confused as to how the air is getting in and out of there. There were NACA ducts on TOP? Ok, if that's where the OUTLET is supposed to be, how's that work? Don't NACA ducts draw air INTO the system, making this a top mount intercooler? Or how's that work?

It dumps into the engine bay, then.

there wasn't a pic of the bonnet/hood to show how the heated air could exit. Looking at the cowling around the intercooler I would have expected a cutout like the 968 on the previous page. Either that or it exited at the rear of the bonnet/hood and the guy doing the caption on the intercooler pic was confused about how NACA ducts work.

I ran the car with a slightly modified John H style top mounted cooler last night. Smoked a supercharged 1.8 Corrodo.

All I can say is: Hoo ha

Get a top-mounted cooler, and all you'll be able to say is "Hoo ha". I did. They install faster than a front mount, and they're removable. And they make you put on a scoop, which looks incredibly cool.

Did you get a good price on it? if so, to whom should i speak.

Rick hasn't posted here for ages. He used to post on the Rennlist web forum from time to time but got booted in March for stirring the pot a little too much. Some things never change.
