I'm thinking that it might be time for me to check the connections between the tach and the DME to see if something is amiss there. Odd.
To everyone who has posted the stock ratios (and there have been a few of you) I appreciate your effort, but I wasn't ever in doubt about the original ratios. My question arose because my RPM at a given speed did not and does not correspond to the stock ratios, nor to any known aftermarket ratios.

Well ZV, what could it be? I mean we both have the same car and get the same ratios.... anyone know if the S was ever released with a different tranny? i know porsche always likes to have 'rare' models floating around...
I'd help with the tach readings, but my car died today, so 'till i fix it, i can't get any readings for you without blowing my engine. _________________ 1987 924S 2.5L SOHC. |

Best of luck with the coolant problem. I'm going to ask the Porsche techs at the shop that's fixing my shifting problem if they know anything about the apparently odd differential ratio when I take the car in on Weds. You wouldn't by any chance have a 924S that was manufactured in '86 but sold as an '87 model? Mine was made in the middle of 1986, though it's an '87 model.
