- The blower motor is broken for AC and heat but the owner says that it is easy to fix and is only a 100 dollar part
- Slight leak on sunroof that can be fixed with a 10 dollar trim piece apperantly
- Cracked dash and torn seats
- Scratches on hood
+ New tires, battery, alternator, coil, front struts, fuel injector o-rings, clutch brakes, fuel filter, oil change
+ No rust at all
+ Has 27k miles on the odometer, owner says that it resets every 100k so it should be 27k. Is that believable?
+- It does not have a passenger side mirror from factory for some reason, I have never seen that, would that affect my driving that much?
Context: I am a 19yr, never really owned a car before and I do not need one tbh, just because I lived in a country where owning any car let alone a cool one is impossible my whole life but now that im in Canada, I want to have a taste of cool car ownership. is this thing good for me or should I steer clear? |

Honestly that's a pretty nice-looking car, even if it does want paint (can't tell from pics). Recover those seats, wheel and repair the dash, it'd be lovely. That Pascha interior is shockingly good; the seats should match if I'm not mistaken.
To your questions...
No, the blower motor is neither cheap nor easy to replace. Dash and entire HVAC unit must come out to replace it, and go price some - I'm seeing around $200USD at Pelican right now, which is actually not bad! It's not a horribly technically challenging job, but does require patience and time. Reminds me I oughtta do this myself to my Turbo, as I'm aiming to replace my dash...
Seats - can be recovered, kits are available and you could either DIY or have a local upholstery shop install.
Odometer - kinda meaningless on these cars, as they both roll over and stop working all the time.
If it starts and runs well, it's probably worth getting. Being an NA, these are not horribly complex or hard to learn on cars to work on, as complex as an early/same era VW with tons more style and performance. Not fast in a straight line, but great fun on the twisty stuff once the chassis is refreshed. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Well I'll be damned... another Toofah fan in Vancouver
My two cents: A 19-year-old living in Vancouver who doesn't need a car? There are better things to spend your money on.
Are you absolutely a Porsche obsessive and/or specifically a 924 nerd? If not, please be aware a 924 like that is likely to be a project. Nothing inherently wrong with that, of course. However, you already know it'll need some form of fixing. In my humble opinion (and experience), it's very likely to need a lot more than stated.
It will just suddenly stop running for no apparent reason. Or it won't start for no apparent reason. Or the lights will just stop working. I mean, the wiring in these things was considered notoriously old and dodgy two decades ago (Edit: Come to think of it, quite literally before you were born!)
And on and on and on...
That being said, I can't really disagree with 924RACR nor morghen. The car doesn't look in awful condition, considering it's getting on towards half-a-century old. And as 924RACR said, if it starts and runs, that's a good start (pardon the pun). Also, as 924RACR implied, 924's are pretty simple, mechanically.
They are very fun to drive, too!
So, as morghen said, it's your decision.
If you have the time, money and dedication to keep it running, it'll probably be a bit of fun, at the very least. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Khal, let me also add that it will supply some of the best life memories especially at his age. I love my 18-19 year old 924 life memories

^^^Aye, absolutely
Something else to be wary of up here is insurance cost, though. A 19-year-old new driver in Vancouver? That thing is likely to cost thousands per year simply to be allowed to drive it, let alone doing any work to it. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

My first car was also a 924 na, needed a new engine for 500$, almost as much as i bought the car for , and i drove it as a daily, and also auto cross and track days, so much fun, and learnt so much. if i was 18 again i would buy car that runs and drives, the cars are simple, parts are reasonable and people are helpful over here _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Only 20 and have 2 Na and one turbo in all different conditions, they always require so much more than expected to fix but they are magnificent for learning and for having fun. Parts aren't too hard to come but definitely require some looking. As Cedric said, everyone here is incredibly helpful. _________________ 1980 931 "Salt" Bucket wannabe racer (Dreaming)

Heater blower upgrade can be made super cheap and improved over the factory.
This 924 you are looking at seems to have the old style heater so the link bellow applies to fixing the heater blower motor.

Regarding the AC blower, it is accessible from under the dash but i doubt its broken. Most likely the problem is a bad relay or insufficient refrigeration agent. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

It's an all day job to do right. You need to remove the dash and cables etc. BUT, once it is done, you will have what will *almost* resemble a modern car in terms of heat and defrost etc.
Where is the car ?
