looking for brake booster solution. I have 1979 924na with a bad booster. That sucker must be leaking internally as it kills the idle right down. I don't think they make new boosters. Question is: options on finding a close ATE model that will fit or should I get the current one rebuilt. Thank you. Steve Dixon

I don't know the logistics of it real well but the prior owner of my 77 did not install a booster when they swapped in the brakes and suspension of an 85 944.

I don't know if this helps you or not. I haven't driven it more than just up the road and back and it stopped very well the little i tested it.

I have one off a '78, no idea of its condition. Will send it to you for cost of shipping. I had put a complete 944 9" setup on my '78 race car, but the booster interfered with the throttle cable location coming thru the firewall and the actuator pin lengths and spacers are different so be careful with that.

The above post about eliminating the booster is one I thought about a lot. It takes a spacer that will bolt to the firewall with some type of pin to transfer the pedal movement pin to the master cylinder going from a small vertical movement to straight which the booster pin does.. Someone made a few for 944's about 15-20 years ago, but have long since vanished. It is not an easy answer either.
