How did you compress the rings on the pistons to install from the bottom?

Notice he didn't say the head was on. To hell with the rings, I'd be interested in how to compress the pistons to insert from the bottom!

I never thought it possible to install piston from the bottom as it kinda difficult to get a ring compressor up in there. What say you Joe? Did you have the cyl head off, or not?

Thanks Joe for that clarification. I figured as much. No need to be harsh Your not are you?

I just wondered if you had come up with a super duper way to do pistons from the bottom..

REMOVAL OF OIL PAN

2. There are 3 bolts that hold the oil pan to the bellhousing, 2 are easy to reach and you will know them when you see them, both are easily accessible from the bottom of the car. Then there is the one bolt that shows how much the engineers love you (sarcasm). This bolt is hard to access, and you will most definetly need a friend to help you. Accessibilty is only from the bottom, and your friend will need to help guide you from the top, it is next to the hole to do the timing on the bellhousing. Use a breaker bar and 3/4 inch socket, go from the bottom of the car, inserting the bar on the drivers side of the drive shaft, and have your friend tell you where the bolt is, break the bolt and then you can use an air ratchet or a close ratio hand ratchet, most regular ratchets don't have the range of motion to get the bolt out.
3. Pop off the oil pan, shake it a little, might need some help out, and scrape off the old gasket. The old gasket is most likely caked onto the block, and a couple of razor blades should do the trick, but it takes a long time. be careful around the oil pump, because it is made of aluminum rather than the harder cast iron of the block, and scratches fairly easily. When you are scraping off the old gasket, make sure none of the shavings land on the crankshaft, covering it might be a good idea.

Please help!!
In my case between step 2 and 3 described above there are 2 obstacles:
1. Oil pan heat AC compressor.
2. Oil pan heat engine mount braket / 931 375 021 01 (turbo)

Both problems occur because oil pan has 2 outputs next to them. It's like they're specially made so you can't get oil pan out.

My first reaction would be to cut them after I remove oil pan. They don't seem to have any purpose other than making it impossible to remove oil pan. They probably involves 2-3 extra hours of work.

Am I wrong somewhere?

Does anyone know if the 2 pieces of aluminum are needed?
Both of them go out of the profile of the oil pan and prevent me from removing it. (unless I disassemble a pile of parts).

It's hard to see on the pictures, but it looks like supports for the machining process from when it was made.

Just un-bolt the compressor and leave it there..all connected with its hoses and electricals..that should allow you to jiggle out the oil pan.
