New fuel pump has been installed and it had been leak checked. Went to try to start it and lo and behold I got it to fire for a brief second and then it stopped....ok no big deal, it's a bit more than last time.

So I go to try again, keeps turning and then I notice a hot smell so I immediately stop and check around. Nothing obvious in the engine bay so I disconnect the battery to make sure there isn't any current being pulled through the car.

I trace back to the fuel pump and I notice a couple of drops of fuel on the banjo fitting. Not good. I suspect that the pump is indeed moving fuel but I still have a leak issue at that spot. Anyone have any suggestions for this newbie?

Thanks in advance.

Find some new copper crush washers. The crush washers work harden when the banjo bolt is tightened, so won't always reseal. Supposedly they can be stress relieved if heated with a propane torch, but it didn't seem to work for me. The local hardware might have some that are close enough if not McMaster Carr.com should have metric ones.

A gent from the FB groups suggested that I cut the crimp off, refit/replace the banjo etc. I'm considering replacing the accumulator hose as well. I need to see exactly where the leak(s) are coming from before I further action. I had replaced with new coper washers above an below the banjo fitting but may try to replace those at first.
