Not sure what to call this. On the body side of the door frame (ie-not on the door itself), toward the bottom is a small black rectangular black plastic piece with rounded ends and about 5-1/2" long and 2-1/2" wide. There are 5 or so horizontal louvers that allow ventilation into the body below the back side window cavities. This is below the speaker mount area. It obviously snaps into place. However does anyone know how to get this part out of the door frame without breaking it? The plastic dates back to 1981 so I am sure it is a little brittle. I managed to drop one of the white speaker spacers into the speaker hole and would like to retrieve it. Not only to save it but also if left in place it might rattle with the sound from the speakers.
There is one on each door.
I can take a picture and send it by PM to you if you need a picture. I have not yet found it in the catalogs but there might be one listed somewhere.
thanks,
Ted

There's a clip/tab at the top of the vent. Pull down on the clip and tilt vent forward. You may need a screwdriver if you're like me and have a short fingernails. Just be gentle and it shouldn't break. Once you tilt the vent forward, it should just list free.

Depends which year you have.

The later cars have that little clip, but the earlier ones do not (~78 ).

It can be a real pain to get it out, but I am pretty sure that it won't break on you if you are careful.
