On my 1981 Porsche 924 the alternator has a hose fitting that apparently connects to a fresh air source. Finding a hose should not be hard but I have not been able to see where the other end connects. Something may be missing. Other 924 owners may know where the hose connects for the air source. Comments, links to pictures or prior posts welcome.
Thanks,
Ted |

I removed mine as it was always in my way
I belive I read on here from people who track the car that removing it doesn't change anyhting.
for me the "piping" was in aluminum and the intake part was same "white" plastic as the radiator fluid tank.
looks something like this

I've stuck with using it, trivial to remove and keeps one of those two tortured electrical components alive a long time. _________________ Vaughan Scott

The plastic thingy it connects to seems to always be either broken or so brittle it would break if you touch it. I went to the local FLAPS and got a piece of the 2" flexible warm air hose that went from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner on lots of domestic cars and set it in position on top of the metal bar in front of the radiator and it seems to just stay there and it connects to the alternator cover. Seems to work ok. _________________ Mike
