I've run them on my 911 race car for years with no problems. I ran them on my BMW 2002 race car and they cracked in about a year. Other BMW drivers had the same problem. 911 version is quite a bit different than the 4 cylinder water cooled versions. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

I think someone mentioned here that they solved some of their header problems by adding an extra hanger near the front of the exhaust.
There are flexible joints available now that you can use to alleviate added stresses to the header tubes and flanges.
Of course any header will eventually fail due to age and use. Good engine mounts and ceramic coating will help stave off their eventual death.
That said, there isn't much gain found in their use aside from weight loss. _________________ Stefan

Hmm okay. Seems like a waste of money at this time if I don't find a used one for a good price.
From what I undertand there is a header from Stahl. Very expensive but never heard of one that cracked. _________________ Our 1983 Porsche 924 project: http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?p=364034#364034 |

There are headers available by Mittelmotor.
Price is around €349,00 for the steel version,
and €499 for the stainless steel header.
…homegrown.

Thanks for the tip! Those headers look top quality.
I contacted Mittelmotor and they have raised the price to 639€. Ouch! _________________ Our 1983 Porsche 924 project: http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?p=364034#364034 |
