I didn't. I'm just not really seeing the purpose of the inquisition. Dan said people could have a refund, EBS has stock, so anyone in a hurry can get them now.
Why is an examination of Dan's business practices appropriate? _________________ Toofah King Bad

If you remember at the beginning we had a big discussion about the engineering of this product. If you remember Dan had access and posted drawings of the bearings. I think his involvement level gets past buy from EBS and sell to .org. He was the first to announce them not EBS.
Then its like Rasta said, why care about his agreement with EBS? _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I have not been offered a refund or even been contacted regarding the matter by Dan, I have however been offered the same parts for the same price, by EBS on Oct 31. A month later I still can't buy them because Dan has my money.

I think the reason we care is because the parts went right to EBS and not Dan. That would be fine if Dan had paid EBS with our money, except Dan never even paid EBS so why collect our money? If he was getting us a better pricing because of his involvement and he had to come up with money to get the ball rolling, fine I would be willing to wait longer for the better deal, but that isn't the case. EBS says they are just waiting on payment......? I frankly don't care what the arrangement with EBS is or any other vendor Dan uses, I am happy to give Dan the business as long as I get my parts when they come in, I would still be happy even waiting an extra week for them to ship them to Dan and then him to ship them to me. For those of us that prepaid this isnt the case and the only thing making us wait longer is having dealt with Dan.
I think you can understand the frustration when you gave someone money a year ago to get in on better pricing and come to find out you could have kept your money and used it a few weeks ago on the exact same part for the exact same money and have it in your hands weeks ago.
Listen, I like Dan a lot and like many of you, have spent thousands of dollars with him. I have waited longer for parts, and spent more on the parts to give him the business. He has always been fair with me and even went above and beyond to make a few things right with me. With that being said I had communication with him to let me know what was going on! Nobody has heard from him in months. I would be just fine right now if Dan was updating us with what he has going on, even if it means I had to wait. It is just unacceptable to take our money and leave us all hanging with no communication and no options. _________________ Porsche 924 1977 N/A

Someone start up the toofah and make him a visit. Maybe you guys that are near could even land a hand to make things go quicker. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Ha, I think Morgan was actually suggesting assistance to Dan. I think you're the one with Sopranos on his mind, Lawnguylund!

| Sorry. To me it sounded like sending some '24 posse over to his house. I'm not even in on this deal and had nothing but good dealings with Dan. Fogettaboudit! |

Finally have internet. Working on recovering email.
I know this sucks, and will piss off a lot of people, but I am simply going to issue refunds on the main bearings. There is just no way I can fulfill orders before the end of the year.
I'm really sorry it worked out this way. When I first coordinated this with EBS, I had no idea we'd be moving to Chicago. Anyone who followed this thread knows that the fulfillment of the order took way longer than what I was told at the outset (NOT the fault of EBS either). If I would have known then what I know now, I would not have coordinated the buy.
I am suspending all new orders until further notice. Too hard and costly to reconstitute the business in the state of IL. I have no time or energy to provide the service expected and deserved by all of you.
I sincerely appreciate your patronage in the past, and I am very sorry to have let you all down.
Kind regards.

Dan,
You've been a valued asset to the 924 community for a very long time now. The level of effort and expertise you've invested I'm sure far exceeds the "profits" you've gained as a result of running Ideola's garage. So, in many ways I'm sure its a thankless job -- You do it for the love of the marque, not for the money made.
That being said, I hope this isn't the end of Ideola's garage. You're an invaluable asset in keeping these cars on the road and it would be a tragedy to lose your commitment and enthusiasm. I hope you continue to support and remain involved in the 924 community in some form. If not, that loss would be a tragedy indeed. |
