Does anyone know if these will fit our cars ? There is lots of talk on the VW forums about using 944 bars but there's a bit of confusion as to the actual spline count/length.

http://www.pacificcustoms.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PC&Product_Code=ac501302-28&Category_Code=torsion-bars-and-leaf-springs

If they do fit it's a damn good deal compared to the other "Porsche" vendors.

Shaggy has the 27mm bars from cip1, matched with 350# up front. QUITE stiff, but the grip. . .lordy!

Oh really ? I wonder if the 28mm/#250 combo might be a bit off then ...? According to the website the 28mm bars have a # rating of 258 which should be almost a perfect match to the fronts. Maybe I should get the 27mm bars and go for a bit of understeer instead. God I hate having to make these decisions..

Depends on the corner weights.

My 924 with its lightweight front end and 325# springs with 28mm rear bars, understeers a bit.

However a 931 with a steel front end might not be too bad with something like that.

Yup, as stated in the tech section any VW bar with a 26 9/16" length are a match for our cars. http://www.924.org/techsection/technical.htm

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

My 28s are matched to 350 springs, + stiffer sway bars (adjustable 28mm/ 22mm). Its very well balanced at the moment.

25 bars matches 250 pretty good on a standard car..

With 205 up front and 225 in the rear, and 23/19 sways, Shaggy is 100% neutral.

Fwiw, slight oversteer setup on the race car is 450#/30mm, 26/20 sways.

Well the car came with 170# in the front and 25mm in the back so by upgrading to 250# inthr front there is no way the car will still be neutral. The plan for bits is 7&8 Fuchs with 205/225's, boxed control arms with poly bushings all around,21 sway up front and 18 in the back, and 250# springs with ? mm bars in the rear end. I have everything above already except the bars.

Suggestions now that you know the rest of the gear ? (Sorry, should have mentioned that before.)

What are you going to use the car for? If lots of track days, the 250# springs might not be enough. Then swapping out the Torsion bars again, would not be fun.

The car is just for fun. Maybe a track dwy here or there but mostly just stress relief.

If I were me, I'd skip upgrading the bars and go with the rest of the plan. Install the 250# springs up front, the sways, and see what happens.
