It has been raining like a tropical monsoon all day today, so I spent the day inside instead of going out like I had planned. However, I had to go pick my brother up at the airport late tonight. I arrived at my car and realized that I had left my driver side window open about three inches all last night and today
The driver's seat is completely soaked, the carpet is saturated and there's a little pool down by the pedals....
I drove to the airport with the heat on blowing straight at the footwells in a pathetic attempt to evaporate the water. It's too late right now but tomorrow after school I'll have to frantically clear out the garage so I can park the car, remove the seat and carpet and put the most powerful heater I can find in the car.
Looks like I'll be walking to school this week |

See if you can borrow a dehumidifier...it will work much more effectively than just a heater / blower. Lacking that, a wet/dry vac will help to suck out as much water as possible. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I will try to use both of those. I'll probably remove the carpet as well just to make sure all the moisture is gone, a moldy interior would be pretty depreciating not to mention depressing... |

there is a drain plug in each floorboard. you can try to pop it to drain the interior, but if you don't have all that much water in there, it may not be worth trying. _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

Carpet cleaner to get all that water up asap, you need to pull the front carpet, it must be pretty wet.. better than heat would be vacuum. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

My car has multiple mysterious leaks into the cabin that involves baling out water (exaggeration). I've found just sopping it up with a sponge or towel as well as you can, then leaving one of the windows cranked down on a hot day dries things out pretty quickly without any mold or off scents. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

Thank you all for the great advice, as a tribute to the collaborative nature of the board I combined all your advice into one (somewhat) great solution
The garage is full of lumber so I was unable to put my car under cover, so I brought it down the driveway as much as I could so that I could reach an extension cord inside. I removed the drivers seat and put that in the extremely warm and dry laundry room where it will stay for the next week or so. The little pool that was by the pedals managed to soak into the carpet (don't fret, it was a very small pool) so I vacuumed the carpet a little (not sure how much that helped). I checked under the carpet and there weren't copious amounts of water under there so I didn't feel the need to pull the carpets. Instead I put a very warm blower heater inside the car and opened the windows an inch to let the moist warm air out. Since the car will be sitting with the heater on for a few days and it won't be under cover, I put a tarp over the roof of the passenger compartment with a long piece of 1x1 spanning the width of the car (and some more) to tent the tarp so that the air could still escape relatively easily. I'll keep the car like this for a couple days and this should dry it out pretty well.
Let me know if you know of anything else I could do to ensure the car gets completely dried out.
