|
|
Hi everyone,
last week it twisted me out of a corner an i hit a guardrail with the left rear light.....
I am not sure what the best way to get this fixed, i think that you will have to replace this area as it is damaged to much. Is this correct?
If so, i wanted to get a pricesly fitting sheet from another 924 cut out with a angle grinder and get it welded in mine. Is this the right way to get it repaired?
The withe crayon lines show how i plan to cut it out.

Welcome to the board Chris.
Yes that will require the damaged area to be cut out and replaced. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Chris,
I can cut this one for you unless you can get one closer to you. I could make the cut just behind the rear side marker light. The tail light shown has a crack in one of the panels, but do have a good one off my 85.5 944.
Thats an interesting bumper, there may be some differences in that panel the closer I look at your images.

Yra thats the way ...if your any good with your hands & autobody. Theres a guy I know of that redid his whole car using this method. Check your local wrecking yards for a shell .. hard and short the guy that offered to cut one up ..is crazy 4 doing so. Smoothie has a good panel how too with pics

Unless I've completely lost the plot, masterslamma is in Germany and that's a Euro bumper and panel... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

thanks a lot for your opinions! Right i live in germany, postage will probably be way to high.
Just found this, what do you think, good idea to change the hole part?

this will not replace everything i need, but maybe the rest will bend out?!?
Is it a big/possible job to drill out all the spot-welding pionts? Has anyone ever done this before? Looks like, the part is only one sheet, an there are several layers of sheet in that are....complicatet
Or would it be easier to weld one cut out piece in?
Thanks alot

I would snatch that rear section for sure. Then I would try to find a local junkyard (scrapper) that might have a 924 and cut out the rear quarter panel section. This would give you the best result. Take those pieces to a competent body shop and let them figure out how to section them in. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
