944 bumpers will not fit 924's, especially the rear, the profile for wide rear arches is different.
The mounts for 924 front and rear bumpers are the same, the thread suggests they are different for 944.
Fibreglass copy parts are a pig to fit right compared to OEM. Panel gaps that are OK for racing are crap for road.
Dozens of UK bumpers are binned over here as no one needs one (unless your existing one is damaged) and they aren't worth a penny. I have recently binned 1 front and 2 rear. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Unless someone has access to good shipping facilities the costs of getting them over to you guys would, I guess be 3-4 times the price of the bumper itself.
The best way would be to get a job lot boxed and paletised. Thats not an offer!
924 parts in the UK appear to be 50%+ cheaper than on mainland Europe. Same for car values. Many cars and parts are being binned currently as they are beyond economical repair and parting then out brings next to no cash to warrant the time spent advertising, selling and shipping. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Before you get nuts on this procedure make sure you are doing business with people you can trust. I speak from experience.
Most of the parts are from a junk yard. Most don't care how it is removed from the car. I have received many bumpers where the bolt goes through
entirely ripped out. Now you have to FG the part to make it work.
Ask them for the bumper bolt and if possible keep the rubber bits on the bumper, and while you are at it give them a little more money for the fog lights. Get the bumper mounts. Without them I think the bumper is useless.
On this side of the pond you will get grief from the purchaser. Everyone expects a almost perfect part. The only time I got a perfect new bumper I had no need for it. I sold it to my friend 924Guy. If you search this site you will see he never painted it. And still has not 5 years later.
I only posted this to help you decide if you want to do this.
good luck

I agree with Vince (bumpers near perfect and complete). I tried selling a 944 euro rear bumper that was in very good condition. Nobody wanted to pay much for it, but everyone wanted it! (And finding a box to ship it was difficult). I say it isn't worth the effort, unless there is a way to find the best of the best of the best! And then palletize the shipment. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Agreed to all of the above. I'm not sure this will be economical for me in the long run anyway. First, price and condition has to be set. If that works out then they all get palletized and shipped to a guy in the midwest who will distribute them. So double shipping, paint, brackets, etc might be too expensive for me anyways. We'll see how this develops. _________________ 1982 931- Stock with MBC at 8psi

The brackets are a PITA too. They have a very flimsy metal part where the captive nut is retained, and many times these break off. You're lucky if it doesn't get lost, at least then you can attempt to re-weld it back together.
For rear bumpers, IMO, it just isn't worth the trouble when you can get an IFC replica that is direct bolt on, comes with brackets. It doesn't have the rubber strip, but I personally don't like them any way and had it removed and shaved the mounting holes on the Euro 931 (club sport).
Front bumpers are a different story, I don't know anyone who is making a replica. Dave, maybe we should send that one of yours in my rafters to IFC or somebody and have them duplicate them. It won't solve the foglight problem, but the bumperettes could be molded on, and the US sidemarkers, while not perfect, will work in a pinch. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Dan,
I see the IFC 944 rear bumper. Did you use this on a narrow body?
