Hello 924 board! After hours of grazing over all of the incredibly useful, inspiring and helpful members and postings I've decided I am going to "raise the blade and make the change" and go EFI! I'll be posting pics and sharing with the board my progress. I've been doing some brainstorming and figured I would start with just fuel management with MS1 and if I want to go EDIS or something similar, I can upgrade, for now I'll keep it simple. Haven't got much to start with but I did manage to pick up an Audi 5000 TB with TPS. (Pic below) Not sure where else to start, but I figure parts allocation and CIS removal would be first in order.

I've got a few questions I'd like to address to all of the EFI veterans out there who've done this all before:

What do I do with the WUR after the CIS system has been removed? Do I just leave it disconnected, but still in the intake?

Do I leave the accumulator in or can I remove it and bypass it? Is it still needed even though the fuel pump and the regulator are in the circuit?

That's all for now.

Here's what I've got in line so far:

-Intake air temp sensor
-Coolant temp sensor
-A fuel rail that will fit, ford 4cyl or Chrysler 4cyl, Volvo, I have to take some measurements
-Injectors, maybe off same as rail
-IAC, but from where?
-O2, narrow or wide not sure. Do I need a controller for the narrow band or will MS accept that signal?

All questions, suggestions, concerns/criticism are greatly appreciated!

Oh and here's the pics of the TB I picked up!

I know I'll have to do some porting of the flange but that shouldn't be too hard, I'll trace out the gasket on the manifold and take the die grinder to it.

That's all for now!

Remove it. Doesn't do anything anymore when converting to EFI.

Remove it. You'll need an external fuel pressure regulator. You only really need one fuel pump as well.

Use the stock Aux Air valve and MS doesn't need to control it.

I vote Wideband. Tuning from scratch is difficult without it.

MS will accept a narrow band signal natively. 4-wire units seem to be the preferred choice since the signal is cleaner and they warm up faster. They are slightly harder to wire up though.

To use a wideband you have to update the code to compensate (MSExtra Code is the direction most end up going)

Good luck!

Alright, wasn't sure about that. I guess for the ease of tuning I'll go wide band. Thanks again!

Definitely get yourself a wideband of some sort.

Started doing some prep work last night, debating my approach on a fuel rail, it looks like a rail off a chysler 2.2l will fit, but an alternative would be to drill out one of these pre-fab aluminum rails:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-RAW-Billet-Aluminum-Fuel-Rail-High-Power-/160558094220?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item256202178c

I really like the idea of setting one of these up, very clean looking, just add fittings.

You should look at ksis's bolt-on from a late rabbit. Looks pretty good, and sounds like it didn't cost much.

Haven't been back for a while now, unfortunately not much has progressed either. Slow but steady at least. I removed the intake manifold to clean up and fit the new TB and shortly will be drilling out and threading a hole for the IAT sensor. I figure I'll put it where the cold start valve was. I'll get some pics up shortly for that stuff. Trying to find a TPS that'll clear the runners, the bosch that came with the unit is too tall preventing the TB from properly mounting.

Aside from the efi stuff, I've been trying to isolate various leaks, it's looking like I'm getting some serious seepage coming from my oil pressure sender, typical on these? Probably will be looking at a water pump soon some coolant there. Lastly my exhaust flange leaving the collect all out failed. I removed the exhaust manifold and found this,

Drilled and tapped once already by a PO and now going to have to do it again, I've been thinking of just going with a new exhaust setup so maybe this is my chance, any remarks on custom vs. stock? I was thinking msds or I might dive in and fab my own.

Hi all, been a while. Some new developments, I got the exhaust manifold drilled out/helicoil'd, picked up an LC-1 wideband and an MSII unit is on the way. Pulled a Bosch PWM idle air control valve, and an IAT out of a donor car.

Having some difficulty getting an CTS that will thread in place of the TTS. Any recommendations?

Now I just need to get my hands on a rail, OBX zetec rail looking good?, some injectors and injector bung adapters, thinking of 034Motorsports.

Also, widened the intake flange to fit the new throttle body, fitted a TPS to the 5000 throttle body, and it clears the intake runners unlike the preexisting one on the throttle body.

I did some cross referencing to find some bolt-in replacements for the efi conversion and found this coolant temp sensor, it will bolt in to replace the Thermo-time switch.

The BWD/Intermotor part # is WT624

Apparently it is off of most any late eighties bmw inline six.

Don't hold me to it though, I'm just reading it off of the BWD online catalog.
