Sunroof compatibility

I was wondering if an early model(pre 85.5) sunroof will work in an 87?

It looks like the front hinge mounts are different and the rear needs the plastic cups for the sunroof lifting arms.

I also noticed a difference in the seal used on earlier models. The earlier models seem to use a much smaller seal than the later models.

with some small modifications, can an early style roof work with a later model?

Sorry, should have mentioned it is a automatic powered sunroof.

Then nope. They are the same size, but are a little different in design on the rear of the panel to accommodate the powered lifting arms. I believe the front clips and mounts are the same though.

The rear plastic hardware is installed for the arms on the sunroof.
I'm not sure about the front latching mechanisms. Im not sure if the pre 85.5 has a different set up with the latches where they flip down and rotate.....

The front latches don't rotate, any year should work.
