This is why I bought her (back in March): G31 with LSD.
Nice set of trash cans too. No rash, although a little bit of discoloration in the clear coat.
But man, the rest of her is ROUGH.
Battery tray. Or what's left of it.
Water damaged interior

I'm keeping the trans for sure, and probably the wheels, and probably the motor. And then parting her out. Unless somebody wants her as a chump car. If so, I can provide a Euro-spec open diff G31 to swap in. Hate to part her, but got no more room, money, or time. Car will start, but requires constant feathering to keep running, has an undiagnosed CIS problem. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Sad to see another one looking at the scrap heap, but I hate rust, and having to deal with it, so that pretty much makes it hard to avoid.
Besides, it's not like you need any more cars... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Its the rust underneath that's killer. Part it or "Sandadize" it...the tubes will get rid of the rust.
I will admit when you offered it for $1K before I had the feeling of interest looming in my gut but seeing the rust now bums me out _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Bear in mind, the rust on the body is only surface rust, there's no cancer or anything eaten through on the body. The body rust is just from the paint being faded / worn away and then being exposed to the elements.
The rust in the battery tray is a different story, obviously caused by blocked drain tubes and a bad battery sitting there in a pool of water. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Surface rust is not bad at all. A good sand back and some lead filler should do it wonders. The problem is the cost of the respray. Hard to recover that cost unless you can do it yourself or know someone to do a good job on the cheap.
Looks like it would take too much to make it a reliable summer car.
Its rough enough to make a great track car though. _________________ 1980 Turbo

If i brought that car to the Cornwall it would start to dissolve and grow white crystal deposits before my very eyes.
Temp here is 70 F plus and Humidity is over 92% at the mo (but no rain).
So no good here, Your cloths rot while your wearing them in this climate let alone the ferrous.
Anyway, don't park it next to your other cars Dan. Tin worm is highly contagious. Be sure it's quarantined... _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

Haha good one! It's parked next to the 928 at the moment, which is mostly aluminum. As for the heat and humidity, it's been in the 90°F range with 80%+ humidity for the past 10 days here in MI. I'm sure we don't rot as fast as in the UK, but it's pretty close. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I am in the same predicament Dan. I bought that 931 in Mass in march or april and I am selling it as I have no time to work on it or part it out. I am also selling my 911, and sold my 944. I am keeping the 924S _________________ Matt
