If they fit, I'll be putting these on mine too
Why not kill your piggy bank and just buy them? It could only set you back $20 if they won't fit...
Some confirmation before is ofcourse better... but I'm thinking worst case _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

????????????? weird !!
Maybe one is in Hong Kong and the other is in the US,
I'm a bit suspicious to say the least but reilly525i, remember, "there are no truths outside the Gates of Eden".
Look nice though, do a search, there has been many past threads on VW handles. _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

Search Nazi says:
SEARCH
Recall a recent similar thread. Forget who bought Chinese ebay handles but remembered he said they were crap.
Or dont bother searching and just buy these to post a second opinion.
BTW, the gaskets are VW parts and around a whole $ each at Autohaus. Also seen them on ebay for a great deal more. |

I did some searching and found this thread:
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=27154
(edit: sorry, wrong thread I guess...)
see what RC says, the porsche handles are porsches own design apparently.
I still like those pull handles... if I can find them for little money, I'll try to mod them.
edit: I think I'll be buying a set from ebay.
It's cheap. How hard can it be to mod them. I even welded my mechanism.
Now it locks the door automatically when you close the door too hard... that's fun when the car's running _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

UPDATE 01
Wait-wait-wait a second…
Problem with all them wannabee Vdub doorhandles is always the slide-in-nose, at the front of the handle fitment, that needs to get snug-on…
and doesn't: Its in need of a bolt etc.; Drama.
…
This handle doesn't need the snug-up fit, right?
'Cause it must be able to ‘bend’ when opening…
Here the ‘front’-end stays put with a feather?
Could it be that …drewl
…too bad the doorlock-cilinder etc. isn't in the right place: Would it work?

The 924 and Audi handles of the same vintage are the same!
At least that's how I recall the 2 earlier Audi's that I had. The only issue is that anti scratch shield on the door. I can't remember if the 200 or 5000 series Audi's had those. _________________ 1980 Turbo

I bought the ones from the ebay ad.
They arrived today (that's within a week of payment very fast)
I'll let you know in a while what you'll have to mod to fit these.
looks like good quality too. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

I just ordered some of those handles too. No question that they will work, only question is how much work it will be. If these won't work easily, I'm thinking I'll shave the stock handles and patch in some Dodge Intrepid handles for a more modern flush look. _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

Ok, I did one in one evening...and that's with removal of the door panel etc and designing the stuff.
The handle itself fits quite nice. It's a bit of a fiddle to get the rear through the hole in the door, but it can be done.
It's too bad that one of the levers of the system is a bit different...if it wasn't, it was a real easy modification.
The lever on which the bent rod (to opening mechanism in door) is connected had a 'double pivot' so to say... while the chinese aftermarket thing has only one. This means it isn't interchangable (might be modded though).
I made a small bracket on which I've connected the rod.
I'll make some pics when I'll do the right side, step by step... but it can be done.
Only problem i've got is that when I lock the door, it doesn't easily unlock anymore... but I guess that's just a matter of tweaking the 'elbow' part which connects to the ball joint on the indoor-locking mechanism.
I've made some movies with my telephone to show that it can work
Haven't looked at the key-lock mechanism.
I did find out that my green car has some sort of central locking. Not sure if porsche put that on, or if it's aftermarket.

Good job Martijnus!!! My car is already hard to lock/unlock with the key, so I have to fix that anyway. Show pictures when you get them for sure. I was going to paint the stock handles black to try to refurbish them, but this will be so much easier I think and probably cost me less in the long run. _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

Aren't those pieces of plastic crap?
If my door mechanism is like others, then those will not work to lock the doors. The plastic white knob would need to be smaller (this is only referring to my 79, yours may be different but you should check to make sure).
Just get some new handles from Porsche. That's what I did. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell
