whoever designed the BAE manifold was a goose..

very tight fit with the alternator on the original side...pulleys and belts need playing with if this is your method ..

(ive got an aftermarket AC compressor on the otherside so cant move alternator there)

Mine has the alternator it on the non exhaust side.
So you must be able to mount the alternator on the other side.
Seems like the easiest fix.

Would exhaust heat cause problems with the belts?

Seems like you're going to have more of a "conducted heat" issue than with radiated heat

Turbo alternator mount would seem the obvious answer....

I guess you can reposition the alternator lower at the same side. you will need to machine new mounts for it.
And a heat shild! coz it must burn out the belt on a turbo application.

By the way,
can you measure the manifold? e.g.:
length
flanges diameter:
flanges angle:
manifold diameter:

I'm planning to have a turbo soon so looking for a good anifold design just like this one looks to be.

Scorpio, if you want to pursue the 931 mounting approach, I'm pretty sure I have all the extra brackets and stuff you'd need to add it.

Cool Cool, does the NA head have the same mounting holes/ positioning for the brackets as the turbo head? i have no experience with the turbo setup and other limiting factors.. Bolt straight onto the 924?

I'm pretty sure it does...as far as I know the blocks are pretty much identical. I'll go dig out the pieces I have, make sure I have everything, and maybe snap a few pix this weekend of how things are oriented on the 941 so we can compare notes. I also have a couple of bare 931 blocks we can look at.

Oh, and BTW, the engine is looking great!

Scorpio, I have what you need:

931 AC + Alt mounting bracket assembly

What it looks like installed

Where it mounts on the block

I checked in PET, and the NA bracket for mounting the AC looks pretty much the same, but has a different part number from the 931, this due to the holes drilled in top of the casting for the small attached bracket that the alternator pivots on. There might be some other subtle difference as well to accommodate the tensioning arm on the left side of the assembled bracket. But it appears to me that the bolt arrangement for mounting both versions of the AC bracket is pretty much the same.

$35 + shipping for the bracket assembly shown in the photo (comes complete with serviceable bushings). You'd only need to source the three bolts to mount it to the block (one M10x70 and two M10x55 according to the illustration 902-06). PM me or email if you want it, should fit in a medium flat rate box no problem.
