The EuropeanAutoParts Ebay store isn't listing any Bilsteins for the 924? Typing in the part number yields 0 results. Did he stop selling them by any chance?

I asked him to let me know when the rears are available and I'd grab both front and rear in one transaction. So I doubt I caused the stock-out...

Where these meant to come with a special alrger style accordian shaped dust cover...or is the picture and instructions generic and the 924 wont use a dust cover??

im guessing according to instructions that those two parts above old monroe are removed (as they dont fit the larger diamter of the bilsteins monotube)

Yes.

Yes, a giant pipe wrench and a big table vice. If you want them to be special tools, apply a Porsche sticker to both and light two $100 bills on fire.

$100??? i Paid $20 for the tool delivered to my door off ebay... made the job a hell of a lot easier!

link is here
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VW-Volkswagen-36mm-axel-nut-removal-tool_W0QQitemZ110394672122QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item19b40903fa&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Local suspension places wanted $40 per blue dust cover...so i emailed the seller of the bilsteins and he found mine....for free!

Confirmation that the rears (bilstein) for early 944 fit the 924 bolt !

Why are you using that tool to swap shocks and struts? That is for removing the castle nut on the rear axle (300+ foot pounds). Are you re-furbing the drum brakes at the same time?

I thought you were talking about removing the collar from the old front strut, that's where you use a pipe wrench and table vice.

oops miscommunication....i put new shoes in the drums while i was at it

One of the old front strut gave me hassle to remove that big nut....so i pulled out the angle grinder and helped it to relax
Somehow managed to Ruin very little thread..i then cut 4 grooves in the old nut and used it as a big tap and die for the little bit of thread i stuffed...worked a treat!

Any other Aussies interested in Bilsteins?

Scorpio's dealer has the rears back in stock. Pricing is:

2 P30-0102 FRONT SHOCK,BILSTEIN 115.00 230.00
2 B36-0161 REAR SHOCK,BILSTEIN 110.00 220.00

Bilstein have combined P30-0102 and P30-0104 into a single SKU. I checked their website and this seems to be the case.

Let me know - I'm planning to order in the next day or so.

Cheers,
Gavin.

No idea, but if you search the Bilstein site for 924 bits P30-0102 is the suggested unit for fronts now.
