The Spring-Break-Out
A track junkies kick start to the driving season
By late February my car has been sitting the garage longing to be set free for almost 4 months. Let's help our prancing steeds get some aerobic exercise to begin the driving season. Join us for a completely new event in 2009 on February 28 and March 1st at Portland International Raceway.
The program will consist of two days of HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) and Autocross. In addition we have a 2 day Dinner and Speaker program planned at a local hotel with guest speakers focused on Autocross and Track Driving techniques and stories. This weekend will also include our annual instructors clinic along with a open lapping day (no Novice Drivers or instruction) as well as adding a classed Time Trial to the Saturday HPDE for those of you that want to compete...Sunday will feature a fully instructed HPDE that will include the opportunity for Novice drivers to gain some track experience.
Each day the AutoCross program will feature our Driver Skills Clinic (DSC) in the AM along with competition in the afternoons. Our DSC is geared toward handling abrupt emergency type maneuvers needed to avoid accidents on the road. This will make you a better driver on the road without question. Our afternoon autocross is a timed competition designed to put those skills to practice in a challenging driving situation. Cars are classed so you will compete with other cars like yours. We generally see between 6-8 runs for each driver. The speeds are fairly low but it does feel fast as the course is generally very tight. At the finish line we always see adrenaline induced big smiles after every run.
Registration will be online at www.motorsportsreg.com beginning January 5th. The cost is variable provided by a menu of the various event selections so you can choose when and what you want to do.
Please check the ORPCA website (www.oregonpca.org) as we develop this event through the winter, if your questions are not answered contact:

What's up mate?
I think I am legally allowed to post here now, since I will have a 924 part onboard at all times now... new trans is from an 87 924S, freshly rebuilt with a Guard LSD installed.
The motor will be freshly rebuilt and not really broken in, so I might need to come out and take some laps before I go full bore racing with it. Gotta give her a full checkout ride before we head out to ORP!!! _________________ 01 986S . 86 951 . 87 944 Cup PacNW / ICSCC |

Now there's that whine and guilt-trip that we've grown to loathe and despise _________________ Stefan

No guilt intended, you all do what you please, and I will probably keep trying to provide fun things for us to do together.
It's that important to me. I don't know why, but. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

I'll come visit with you mate! I just won't have the car ready in time. Trans arrives Monday. I pick up the motor bits from the shop next Friday. Then I've got a ton of assembly and installation to do, plus alignment, etc.
Boxster has an RMS leak so until I get that fixed later this summer no track love for her either. Though I am under orders to fry the clutch as it is a 'while you're in there' for a cheap rubber seal.
Track season picks up for me in April. In fact I think my first race will be the Conference weekend 4/24-26. If the car has not been track run prior to then I will be attending the Friday DE for motor and trans break in. _________________ 01 986S . 86 951 . 87 944 Cup PacNW / ICSCC |

Hmm, you should let me take the race car for a spin during the noon session!
RMS leak, don't I recall that some of those 986s had some sort of bad juju that 86ed their cases??
