Around here we like to see the finished product first, then we critique and complain. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Don, this image is giving me a funny tingly feeling. Is this vintage Capri hard to find? How much for a decent example? Did the 2.3 bolt up to existing drivetrain, or was the conversion more involved? _________________ Toofah King Bad

Don's had everything in that Capri including a V6.
I got to ride around with him in the DOHC car and I can certainly say the pics do nothing for it. Its a very sweet ride. Go Don!
I'll get to your area one day Colin. |

Mark 1 Capri 1971-1974
Mark II Capri 1976-1977
Mine is a MKII with X-pack. They are rare now but can be found. One in excellent condition will cost about $3000.
If you were drooling over the engine compartment check out this picture...
The MKII's came stock with the 2.3 so the conversion was pretty simple. Several pitfalls such as putting in a tranny that will handle 300+ hp.
That's my other orange Capri II. It has a 2.3 turbo also but is still running a Ford head.
PM me if you have specific questions.

Ya, I remember in the early 80's some outfit (Eslinger?) was making 600+ HP with carburators on these engines. They were setting all kinds of sand drag records mated up to VW transaxles in sand rails. Extremely amazing for their time.
The precurser to this engine (2.3L) was the German built 2.0L which I think Ford quit using in there Capri's and Pinto's in 1974. The 2.3 may not be German built but it has a lot of German design.

I just used 1.5" aluminized steel J-bends. Green coolant.
