Well I like the idea of California. Can you use RADAR DETECTORS or SCANNERS in California?

What about state transfer of Motor Vehicle License information? If I, say, lose a whack of points in Ontario, will California seek out my points information from Ontario? Or can I just go there, get a CA license, and get a new record?

Just asking...

Well, rabid conservative depends on your point of view. In CA, I believe you're defined as such if you think bums should get a job and guns are not an unnecessary evil in society.

Here in Michigan, if you don't hunt something you're a certified tree-hugging hippie/queer/Friend of Dorothy/commie/pick your favorite epithet. Unless you live in Ann Arbor, in which case you can't possibly think of eating meat (it's also referred to as The People's Republic of Ann Arbor, more leftist than Berkley!). Everybody else goes up north on the weekends to their cabins... during the summer, to go boating, in the fall, to kill things. Ever heard of the Michigan Militia?

All I'm saying is that it's a matter of perspective, and yours is different from everyone else's.

Edit: I guess the message is that if you're a rabid enough conservative to think that the workings of the California state government are run by Hollywood Treehugger/Save the Whales Society wackos, and it affects your life enough that on a daily basis you feel the need to let everyone know that "Kalifornia sux" in each of your posts on an automotive web forum, stay away from California. I'm okay with that. Enough extremists here as it is.

Hey guys, what's up with this bashing where people live. Let's knock it off, or we will end up with another locked topic.

Except for Ottawa...we can slam Ottawa as much as possible...yes?

Kidding.

I don't mind friendly jibes as long as it's clear from the way the guy/gal writes that it's not nastiness cloaked in a joke. To each his/her own. I'm still gonna go to CA. Can't wait to drive the PCar all year round.

Everyone hates Ottawa. Hey Rick, why not move to BC? We've got some great places out here, even if we do have a decidely... evil government(no, really, we do).

Actually, where I live, it doesn't really rain much. A lot of people here think it rains, but it really just showers a bit, a few mm of rain. It's a very rare thing to see rain really pouring down where I live. Then again, I live in one of the most desirable areas of BC...

Anyways, you can't write off an entire state/province based solely on what you have seen. I'm sure California has some wonderful places, and I am told northern Cali is wonderful, just like Oregon/Washington/BC

CBass...BC is full of hippies and commies!

LOL

I had an interview for a Human Factors job at a start up in BC two years ago. Lured to the salary by a headhunting firm, I outlined a price for start up funds (i.e., a package amount, covering moving expenses there and back, and just start up, like, getting new furniture). The headhunters accepted that figure as reasonable and off to the interview I went. The day progressed, and an offer was tabled. But no start up funds. None. Just a 'We will pay your move out here' commitment.

Seems the headhunting firm never ever even told them about the start up funds request. Seems they'd anticipated I'd cave in on that issue. Fact is, despite the offer being sound and good, I didn't want to move away from my friends and family in Ontario unless I could parachute out of BC when the job was done. Anyways, three other offers from BC and I still haven't gone out there. So now I'm just a 'wanna be' hippy from Ontario.

Hey, something I don't understand: How come houses in BC look like they're all made of wood? Don't you guys have any bricks out there? Is that some kind of pinko commie Svend Larsen thing?

Jeez man, don't you know thats illegal? You might have to deal with the draconian BC court system! I knew a guy who got caught with 50 lbs, bagged and ready for distribution. He got fined...

"Okay, you want that in cash or check?"

I'll tell what it's like in California. It's so hot in the midday sun that you leave little clouds of dust when you walk across fields and water's piped around like oil.
Yet the ocean is so cold you have to wear a wet suit to surf. I know 'cause I'm half old-Californian. Not sure which half though.

PS And it's all going to break off and fall into the Pacific shortly so the point is moot.
