Make sure you race on a very curvy road. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I hate to say this, but use the search function. There are tons of threads on here about street racing, particularly the 924 vs. Japanese Cars. Try some of the following search strings:
"924 vs Honda"
"924 vs Toyota"
"924 kills japanese import"
"another 924 street racing kill story"
"I'm an idiot because I want to race my friend's Honda Accord"
Unless you are racing on a strip or closed circuit, you are an idiot.
You said you had a 924 in 98/99? So even if you got that car when you were 14 in hopes of driving it when you were 16, that would put you in your 20s now. Aren't you a little old to be posting topics like this? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

I had to do something to spice up the thread. Another street racing thread on a board absolutely full of street racing threads is so boring. I mean seriously, who doesn't live their life a quarter mile at a time while dragging a Honda Accord? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

well I am now in my early 30's, but anyways my 924 is in the graveyard right now and won't even run but I doubt my civic could beat his accord cuzz he has got a 5 speed with v-tec twin cam, but when i get my 924 running it is on, drags or the twisties. _________________ 2000 Cavalier Z24 imposter

i have a friend with a mint stock '82 dr30 skyline coupe and a 4 dr. his 4 dr is new so im not too familiar with it but the coupe has a fj20det 2L 16v non-intercooled turbo with a yamaha head (iirc). it revs like hell and has a reliable 190bhp and besides the styling and fit & finish of the 931, i can only look at mine and think what it could have been.
i know there were politics and financial issues at the time but i think the 931 should have had the 937's credentials for the same price at least. not meaning flared guards but mechanicals. i think porsches hesitation could have stopped a true classic porker...
regardless, i lovemy 931 and still wouldnt trade it for said dr30, but when datsun-nissan were mass producing them for a reasonable sum... _________________ '86 944 |

LOL! Nice one, Chrenan!
Harris - you're dreaming. No way in hell will you beat that Accord in a straight line. Good luck beating your own Civic.
Quit acting like an acne-riddled teenager with an inferiority complex, and take it to the track. You may still not beat him there, but you'll learn a lot more about driving, and without putting yourselves and others at risk.
If you still want to settle who has the bigger attachments on the street - do what everyone else does and buy a Dodge Ram Big Horn Edition pickup. _________________ Vaughan Scott

haha.. sore topic.
I've raced a few cars, not as many japenese cars but a few different ones. Raced stock GTP from a roll, beat it
Raced 3.2 swapped Taurus SHO, lost and beat it
Raced automatic Taurus SHO, beat it
Raced bolt on Cavalier, beat it
Raced automatic GSX, beat it
Raced 5spd GS eclipse, beat it
A few different hondas, lost barely to a vtec swapped gutted crx, turbo awd eclipse, and a few cars.
If you are racing in a stock n/a 924 you'll probably lose every one of those races.
Most of those are either on the track or a short highway run with no traffic. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I've got a feeling I could do pretty well in the S, but as it happens I like my transmission a whole lot more than beating idiot highschoolers in hondas. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

a NA vs a twin cam VTEC ? hah ! never !
That puppy has about 200 HP and about the same weight...how the hell do you think you can beat him with your 90-115 hp car?
i've raced single cam 16V honda civic CRX(140hp and 860 Kg) and lost miserably with my NA.
I've lost against the heavy honda prelude with a race prepared 2.3L non vtec engine ! so...you're out of luck with the NA.
The only 924 thing that can beat these japs is the turbo(with some minor mods maby) _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

You'll DEFINITELY lose. My stock 924 NA is SO SLOW...I honestly can't think of anything that compares...except maybe a 3-cyl Metro...or a Tractor...or MAYBE a Mercedes 200D 4-cyl diesel with a slipping transmission...what was Porsche thinking anyway? I have a Supra turbo that has basic modifications done to it, and while it's not lightning fast...it would absolutely decimate a 924, even a turbo. _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone
