Thanks for that Raceboy!! Another good book on the subject is "Turbochargers" by Hugh MacInnes, published by HP books.

ok...got it...i read the intercooling section and i have this until now:
From the calculations it resulted to me that if i want an IC good for ~250 BHP using medium density and 10" long cores(i only have access to this type), the IC core will have to be 35cm long / 25cm tall and 7.5cm thick. I have also decided on the design of the i/o caps but i'm still thinking about using 2" or 2.5" pipes.
pushing 250 BHP with 2" pipes would result in ~290 ft/sec intake gas speeds while using 2.5" pipes would give one ~190 ft/sec gas sepeeds. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Does that allow for the wall thickness of the pipes,? Usually 2mm for ally and 1.2-1.6 for stainless or mild steel. So the ID is 3 or 4 mm less.

no the calculations refer to the usefull area....however the 2mm do not affect the flow in such a dramatic way...what i was interested more in was the difference between the 2" and the 2.5" profiles _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Not being critical but a quick calculation shows over 17% difference in cross sectional area and therefore flow between 48mm and 52mm. May as well work it out realistically. Anyway, what size pipes are you going to use?
