Ok..I managed to get the car fired up. But it's flooding like hell.

What is actually happening is the injectors are getting wide open fuel as soon as you start cranking.

The cold start valve is not functioning. It will spray perfectly if I add in the ground.

What do I need to do to make this opposite...cold start to fire on cranking then the injectors to kick in when running.

Also the injectors seem to be putting out ALOT of fuel...compareable to what you might get at full throttle.

Thanks guys... I am off to do some more search and haynes.

Perhaps the fuel distributor piston is stuck? .... Thats the first thing I would check.

Try turning down the mixture?

Take one of the injector lines off the metering head and with the ignition on, turn the mixture down so it just dribbles out.

Min wins the prise.. I was looking at the haynes diagram and it hit me...that some times when i would lift on the metering arm it would have resistance ..other times it would be just flapping freely.

I am in the process of cleaning it all up right now.

Thanks again guys...you really do rock.

Going to read on how to remove the metering arm..........

Glad you got it sorted.

Theres a large screw at the back of the metering arm to remove it. Think Haynes has a full description.

I took it out and cleaned it.... I really expected it to be dirty and gummed up but it was very clean actually. I sanded the piston with 2000 grit paper and blew out the bore.

When I assembled it I lightly lubricated it ( I know the gas will wash it off)...once all assembled it still didn't "fall down" on it's own. I am hoping the fuel pressure drives it back down to the close position.

We'll see after super.

When I had mine on the bench, it would naturally fall down. That's where 'it wanted to be' if you know what I mean?

ew... I'm pretty sure that any abrasive on that piston is a big no-no. You might want to check into a used fuel dizzy. They can often be scored pretty cheaply.

edit- if it doesn't slide down on its own with gravity, then it's bad/sticking

ps- I believe the piston is brass, which could scratch up pretty easy from any grit paper

2000 grit sandpaper... It will barely sand paint off let alone steel. I only used it to clean any light surface gunk.

However you may be right regarding getting another fuel distributor.

make sure it is centered as well. Mine was slightly off center and it would get caught up a little bit.

Yup..it centered up really well..I was surprised. The psiton seems to work really well. But at the moment the car will just start and run for 2 secs then shut down. Not sure if it's fuel or ignition.. I am sure I'll get it sorted out before the nites out.

That sounds like it's running from the CSV charge and then dying. Have you eliminated vacuum leaks?

Got it running....and it runs STRONG. Not a skip, not surge... no ticks..no knocks. Idles exactly at 900 rpm's. Revs up perfectly.

It didn't have power on the positive side of the coil once the key off the "crank" position.

I am so pumped that I got this junkyard ugly duckling running.

Thanks for the help guys.
