Hello Guys ,
I'm looking for upgraded rod bolts for the stock 931 rods , it would save some research time if anyone here has done one before and know for eg. if vw / audi rod bolts by arp will fit, as no one list anything for a 924. _________________ 928 gts prototype

Recently I chatted with the folks at Raceware and the only thing they offer at this time for the 931 is head studs. _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

Why upgrade them?
Everything on the 931 is pretty solid and unless you are looking to go to major power/rpm gains the std bolts should be fine. I have reused mine as they were out of stock here, no problems even after 2 seasons.
Cheers

I am pretty sure Simon that he is going to be going with ALOT of power on this engine, which I am not sure as to why he is using stock rods for that. But I am sure he has his reasons _________________ 3 928s, |

Stock rods are pretty stout, a nice polish and a shotpeen and I wouldn't worry about them as long as they're still nicely within round.
If you need something stouter, there are forged H beam rods for VW engines that are the right length. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Well because my motor had over spun enough to bend valves ( 9000 rpm it had appeared ) and for safety reason wanted to change the rod bolts. Porsche only has the nuts new , but no bolts.
If anyone has one handy i could send it to My contact at ARP for a match.
we will all benifit from this at rebuild time. _________________ 928 gts prototype

Stock rods will handle a lot of power, but is RPM limited to 7200 rpm with the stock rod bolts. On my full race motor i'am using Pauter with Wiseco pistons, as we plan to turn that engine to 7800 -8000.
THis is for my backup engine for DE and customer rentals etc. which will be using prepared stockparts with upgraded valve train. we will push this engine to 300 whp max on the stock parts for extended track use.
experience over the years have shown that stock rods will handle a lot more Hp than most would think but will fail if it also includes a significantly higher engine speed . _________________ 928 gts prototype

It's actually amazing how muhc more stressful running at high rpms is to components and bearings than increased cylinder pressures. Most people don't realize how much force is involved and how even a very rigid forged crank can being to flex an awful lot. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
