Sounds like you have much the same taste as I do in MK1's!

I love those wheels. I plan to put a set of custom RS wheels on my 924 at some point for street wheels, I have 16" flatdishes currently which will be my track and snowtire rims.

If you click on the link in my signature, you'll see my old wheels which are now doing nothing. I'm considering having them redrilled in 4x100 and putting them on my rabbit, as the rolling diameter would be about right with the 205/40/16s on the 8" rim. I'd just need the correct hub adaptor, or to have a few made by a machine shop. Two of them have a little curb rash, but who cares. The centre caps for them are hex shaped BBS style, but they aren't secured at all and someone has stolen one of them... Naturally they are impossible to find.

Yup, we do have similar tastes. As an aside, when I started my picture quest a few weeks back, I checked on cardomain and saw your car.

I have most of my VW pics up - check the link in my sig.

Haha, small internet after all! I don't think I've updated my cardomain in about 2 years, but I should post some new stuff up there.

Jpab, welcome to the world of VW's... That's the look that everyone goes for, stuff as much tire as you can into the wheel well. If it rubs, make the suspension stiffer and don't turn as hard.

My friend here in Maple Ridge has a GTI which is lowered three inches and has 15" wheels with low profile tires, they only rub under near full lock, but it also has much stiffer than stock suspension. Built 2.0 ABA bottom end with the GTI solid lifter head, all of the right goodies for go fast boltons, etc... Only one problem with the car really, the engine points the wrong way and drives the wrong wheels!

It is funny how things come full-circle. When I lived in Germany, I had a Euro-spec 928S. Porsches were (and still are) my first love. My best friend over the pond had an uber-clean Mk 2 Golf, which got the gears grinding about VW's.

A couple years later, and I came back to the US. I had to leave the 928 in Europe, but it found a good home with Olivier Jacquemond. Anyways, I bought a Land Rover Disco II, but that was too big for my wife, so we bought a Golf TDI. I loved that car, and it got me into the local VW scene, where I found early VW's again. So, I bought a Scirocco with a built engine and no interior as a toy - loved it.

In doing research about Sciroccos, I came upon the interesting tidbit that the 924 was originally supposed to be the Scirocco, but VW turned the project down, built a car based on the Golf platform, and Porsche decided to follow through on all the work they'd already done.

So, now here I am - back to Porsches again. But this time, with a VW twist.

Still miss this stupid car.... It idled like it had twice as many cylinders with the schrick 272, ported manifolds, etc. To my recollection I don't remember losing much on the 3, lilydale, well, alot of nice roads around here. Deceivingly fast.

Love this color, this is how my car will look in a few months, only with a few rare parts I have laying around Same wheels I used to have only with alot more dish, a decent cam, my 9.3:1's, and a set of webers. Maybe I won't be so distraught with the black thing in my driveway and the Porsche key that goes with it.

-- I love hearing the aussies on the board talk about all the nice cheap 924's in the states. German ebaymotors.com is where it's at. Seriously, there's plenty of "german-look" 924s there, with 15x8 borbet type A's, slammed to the ground, etc... No better place to look for pics as the cars cycle within a week and they go for NOTHING over there, jealousy+1

VW's are more of a utility for me than a hobby I must admit... After driving a Porsche, you get a sense of appreciation for a well balanced car, and a MK1 VW shows it's weight distribution all too easily under cornering transitions.

I have a Euro bumper sitting in the garage that was painted my Euro car color that I thought I would use a spare. I don't need it.

One bumper $300 plus freight. from NYC.
