this is very strange, I did not find any high concentrations of CO. I tested the detector first by placing it close to the exhaust pipe and the reading was 944 ppm. Inside the car next to the driver area the reading was zero I left it there for 5 minutes with the windows closed and the car iddling.

then I placed it in the trunk right where the little hole is close to the drain tube. the reading there went up to 22 ppm which is still not enough for the alarm to go off, CO alarm will go off from 30 ppm minimum if its at 30 ppm for a couple of hours.

I drove home again today and I have a headache again in the front of my head and feel tired, blurry vision.

now I'm really confused, I know this is caused by the car because I get these headaches after driving

antifreeze is also not likely as they pressure checked my cooling system, oil burning probalby not very likley either...

last thing that's possible is a fuel leak but I think you would smell it if it was enough to cause a headache.

someone else mentioned mold or whatever, maybe its just old car crap that I'm sensitive too.

my engine is also making weird sounds, camshaft rubbing sounds so I think my engine's going to need major repair very soon.

Why don't you listen???

First of all, if your car is on idle, then the fumes won't come in. When you drive, there will be a vacuum at the end of your car, so if your hatchseal is leaking, the fumes will come in. Also under your car the fumes will be more because of the vacuum...

Don't only use your "machine" but also your mind!!!

Get at the back of your car, place your detector there and let someone else drive your car when you are testing.

Wow! Belgian924t has been here 12 days and has 7 posts and has already figured Timstar out! A new record!

Tim, this should be a wakeup call for your board behaviour. Smarten up.

I hope not that the members on this board are thinking that I am an agressive person or something.
I work on Porsches in my free time, and what I have learned that it is important to open your ears and have an open mind for other people's ideas. Especially when those persons have a lot of experience...

I don't think you are aggresive at all, I think you "hit the nail on the head".

Belgian, you are not being agressive, or a PITA. You are just telling Tim what we have all been trying to tell him for a long time. But, he never listens.

Tim never listens, he ignores good advice and then asks ridiculously stupid questions, that he could have EASILY figured out by either using the 924board.org search function, or failing that, GOOGLE.

I've already outlined a solution. On the other board I frequent, I am a moderator. The other moderators and I have come to a consensus, which is that certain members contribute NOTHING to the community, be they trolls, flamers or just hapless nitwits. The decision was made to ban people such as this, which is entirely necessary on a board as large as Automotiveforums.com.

One of the things I have always liked about the 924 board is that for the most part, we seem to be devoid of trolls, flamers and said nitwits. For the most part, although that seems to have changed in the last year or so.

Vote ban in 2006.

Nah, Tim is harmless, let's reserve banning for the nasty types.

today I took the CO detector during my drive and the highest reading it got was 31 ppm inside the car. I'll be sealing some holes and other spots in the back with duct tape to see if it helps or not.

I'm going to buy a new car anyways in the summer because I need it for long distance drives to school and in the winter there is going to be snow where I'm going to school. I'm thinking of getting a 94+ golf gti, jetta or integra.

I might still keep the 924 because it won't really be worth selling it for what I'll get for it, but for now I'm going to try and fix the CO leak and just drive it on short trips to school and work.

I agree. Tim tries hard and his heart is in the right place.

It's just that some of his efforts are a little 'misguided'.

Tim, it'll probably do you good to get another car, you'll be mobile, you'll have something to learn on and when you've gained the experience you can come back to the Porsche.

I had a friend like tim, "steve", in highschool....... we all had air-cooled VW's at the time. Steve never could grasp his '65 Beetle.... there was always something, and me and another friend would help him fix things, and tell him what to check etc....... 98% of the time he wouldn't listen, and would just bitch about the car. It was like it was our fault he bought the car, and he tried to guilt us into working on it. We'd end up working on it, and it would be tuned, starting, and running well, then he'd screw with it and all would go to hell again....
