I was going to take the wife out, and my freaking car wont start. My money is on electrical problems, it half-heartedly turns over. I cleaned the fuel pump relay, and had a look at whats under the passenger side (its a RHD). It still does the same (next to nothing).

How far can I safely pull that mess of wires out? There are a collection of wires attached to the top of the fusebox (where the relays are), and its a web of wires down there, I need to pull them to trace/view them properly.

On the plus side, I saw the grounding ring, its pretty obvious.
On the negative side, a red wire has been spliced with the red/black wire from the fuel relay. Its been cut/pulled and I am not sure if its a real wire, or something that was put in for the non-working alarm/immobilizer system.

HELP, insurance is £80 per month, and I dont want to be paying that for a car sitting on the drive!!!!!!

Just a quick cross-check, try hot-wiring the car. Very quick and easy to do, determines if the ignition switch is a culprit - they do wear out, you know!

possibly, but unlikely, knowing that car.
The voltmeter goes on, and drops when I try turn it, so maybe my battery is shagged?? I was planning to sort the wiring out tomorrow anyway so...

next thing is, how do you hotwire the car? Coming from South Africa, my car theft skills extend as far as sticking a firearm in someones ear, not doing a thingy with the wires.

It's in the tech section under ignition. Very good instructions there, helped me get mine running.
