| I have noticed that my voltage instrument reads lower than what a good VOM reads at the battery. If I maintain steady RPM at idle I can watch my oil pressure drop if I turn on the wipers, lights, defogger. Is this a grounding problem, or what should I be looking for. The car does not show signs of a bad battery or alternator, and does not wear down the battery. |

| Yeah, pull that instrument cluster out and inspect the wires and terminals. Sounds like a bad ground to me. |

20 year old wiring
The voltage meter does not show the battery voltage, it is just connected in series with the other instruments, a simple idea that worked 20 years ago. If you want it to give a reasonable reading find a nice fat positive and earth and connect to those.
The oil pressure gauge is probably a ground problem. Check the resistance between the gauge and a known good ground. Also check the resistance in the wires between the pressure sender and the gauge (easy to say). Be cautious, yours might be that really really rare case where the oil pressure gauge is telling the truth |
