Hi Again,
More Questions about the '88 SE. Since I am prepping mine for stock class SCCA soloII (autocross) competition, I need some info regarding options.
My car has the following options:
C02 030 360 526 573 657 756 990
The 573 code refers to Air Conditioning. I would like to remove it from my car for weight savings. Does anyone know if the SE was available without A/C from the factory? This is very important, because I cannot legally (by the SCCA rule book) race the car with options not available on that specific model of car in that specific model year.
So, If the car was available without A/C, what kind of official documentation is out there that I could use as proof?
Thanks,
Jon |

You can run with the AC deleted in StockII. Dg _________________ Dal Glassinger |

I am running per the SCCA rules. Is stockII a PCA class?
Per the SCCA rules:
"Stock Category cars must be run as specified by the factory with only standard equipment as defined by these rules. This requirement refers not just to individual parts, but to combinations thereof which would have been ordered together on a specific car."
"An item of standard or optional equipment that could have been ordered with the car, installed on the factory production line, and delivered through a dealer in the United States. Dealer-installed options or deletions(except as required by factory directives), no matter how common or what their origin, are not included in this definition. This definition does not allow the updating or backdating of parts."
"Option package conversions may be performed between specific vehicles of a particular make and model, but only between configurations from within a particular model year. Such conversions must be totally complete and the resultant car must meet all requirements of this Section."
I know that there are several options decoders available. These options decoders do not provide enough information, as options could conflict with each other.
Where would I find information about which options were available and/or mutually exclusive for the 1988 924S? |

No it is not PCA. Your car would run Letter Class "I" in PCA. StockII is SCCA. I would not be concerned about the AC being removed as they probably won't even notice it was deleted. As long as you make minimum weight your okay.
If it is a stock offered option you can have all the options you want on or off as long as it makes weight.
All options allowed are only for cars given the options hence one can not use a 968 wing on a 924 without upgrade in class as the wing was not an option for an 87 or 88 car. Make sense?!D _________________ Dal Glassinger |

I have never heard of stockII before. Is that a race class like Touring 1?
There is no such thing as stockII in SCCA SoloII (autocross).
Also, for SoloII stock class there is no minimum weight. If you have all of the standard options in your car, there is no need to weigh it, as nothing has been removed.
I am really just looking for some documentation to justify removing the A/C. If I can't find any documentation, then I won't do it. |

See SCCA rule 17.1 STS Stock Touring includes SoloII. AC delete is allowed. I meant SoloII not StockII sorry! D _________________ Dal Glassinger |

I would love to run in STS class. Unfortunately, even though our car has four seats it is banned from the class.
"Vehicles eligible for this category include all coupes/sedans with a minimum of four seats, four seatbelts; that are non-sports car based with maximum engine displacement of 3.1 liters, normally aspirated and certain small displacement turbocharged sedans. No limited slip differentials are permitted except for factory standard viscous coupler type units."
"Sample excluded vehicles:
Porsche, all
Datsun Z-car 2+2
Honda CRX
MGB GT
Triumph, all" |

| It is because our cars are considered "sports car based'. That, and our cars are specifically excuded on the list |

Does anyone have the 1988 Porsche sales "Full line brochure"?
I would like to know if it has 924S options listed in it. I have read that there was no 924S sales brochure in 1988. Does anyone have one?
Again, I am looking for available options.
Also, has anyone purchased the following for their car?
http://www.pca.org/members/library/Cert_of_Authen_Form.pdf
If so, could you show me a copy of it (you can remove the VIN and any other sensitive info if you want) |
