See mostly SCCA ITA on the board and I'm sure there is some ITS here as well. I guess those of you with Carbs are running E Production. Was wondering if anyone was participating in P-Club Racing. If so, why? If not, Why?
Best,

I'll respond to the Why Not? part. I built my car to run ITA since it was cheaper (to build and to attend events) - things like no interior, etc. There's also more, tougher competition in IT than in the PCA Stock class. Now, while I could take my car and license and run it in PCA, I'd have to run GT thanks to PCA's rules about full interiors. No point doing that just to be run over in something that's as fast as a Stock class car.
But without question the biggest consideration is that there are more races, at more tracks, for less money, and offering more challenging racing in IT than there are for PCA. I could race every weekend if I could afford to and had the time/energy. That, for me, is the key to "quality of racing experience." _________________ Vaughan Scott

Ditto, what Vaughan says. If we combine NASA 944 Cup (or 44Cup I guess cause Porsche didn't like the title or something), GTS Challenge, and SCCA ITA we could almost run every weekend somewhere in the Northeast. We'd lose our wifes and girlfriends and probably go broke and have to find new jobs in the process. Our schedules are too tight to fit in additional events. We have a car that's probably eligible for vintage but we don't have enough time to consider it. Besides, I really don't know enough about PCA to make any further comments about it. I'll leave that to the other folks to comment on.

I was wondering how long that would last. No hard feelings, though, it's still a bummer to see PCNA being such jerques... not sad to see them suffering with the Chili Pepper! LOL _________________ Vaughan Scott

Vaughan pretty much hit it on the head. The PCA rules are not favorable to the 924 in their 'J' class. And the classes and class rules are not setup to allow one to equalize the cars (except with BS expensive mods - to supposedly "Stock" cars. Stock of course because the interior is intack). We are talking about the 2.0L 924 by-the-way; not the 2.5L 924S.
Jeremy: So. When do we start on that racing schedule. I'm ready.
PCNA refused to give permission because it would 'dilute' the trademark. Excuse me?? Stuff like the Cup which feature Porsche 944 Cars doe more for the trademark than PCNA has in years.
Porsche is gonna 'not race' and SUV their way into irrelevance. A miniature GM.
My next race car will probably be a Honda (no kidding). _________________ John

Most embarrassing thing is that GM's coming back from the brink! Speaking with inside knowledge, they're making surprising progress... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Do you guy's on the east coast have people competing in the stock classes? The grid that shows up to Portland (when they last held a race) looks like the American Lemans grid. The slowest car's are highly modified 944 turbo's. We have no stock car's show up-it would be very embarassing to race here with PCA. Just curious to hear about life on the other side of the US. It's just a place for people to excercise their Iroc 911 replica's here. _________________ 1 of 100 Sebring M471's ( G-prod racecar)

GM better hurry Vaughan. Nisson now has a FULL SIZE truck with a full size motor! My next tow vehicle could well be of MUCH higher build quality than what's sitting at the curb now. I'm anxious to see it in person.
And, what's really telling. Talking to mechs I know who work on the cars. Including LJ (my son). All the cars have their quirks of course. But the general comment would be that the design and build quality of almost ANY of the Rice Cars are way beyond almost ANY of the domestics. LJ likes Mercedes. While they may not be value (all that quality is costly), he says they are impressively made and designed.
PCA stock classes means it has to have the carpet in place. But you are free to add coilovers, remote shocks, metal susp bushings, etc. So, us low budget guys can't pull the AC and lower the weight to get within the same power/weight ratio as the rest of the class; but the fellas with bucks are free to spend freely. _________________ John

Yep! Of course, anything I'm seeing is still a few years out... But at least they're paying attention to cars again. Of course, I still subscribe to the ideal of getting the best value for your money - wihch means, since I buy used cars, that I'll not own a Detroit car for many years if at all... _________________ Vaughan Scott
