|
|
hello...i just got this 924S and its 1988, im missing some switches on the console and my radio isnt very loud...
1.) i dont seem to see an wires or anything for a fader switch sooooo is the OEM system just not a loud setup or is the fader just unhooked and its affecting the sound level
2.) im replacing the system anyways but WOULD LIKE to use a harness adaptor for the blaupunkt plugs so i dont have to rewire everything....Will i have to track down this fader wiring and disable it somehow or what
thanks guys

if there is no hole in the carpet where it says it should be, you don't have it. I don't have it either, and no other US 924S I've seen has had it. I think it's just something in the book for ROW...my opinion tho _________________ werd B. |

| in the carpet? Welll technically its supposed to be next to the power window switch on the console right behind the shifter...i have 4 slots, one is mirror toggle switch , next has a blank plug, 3rd is empty and 4 is another mirror switch......my sound system STINKS and it isnt loud at ALL in the back like there it is faded to the front...soo before i go rewiring the whole porsche with my new audio system, id like to know if i could use the old plugs... inotherwords make sure the reason the sound is not so loud because of the speakers and OEM deck and not because of unknown fader problems... |

Seems I've seen those in the '88 924S but always they've been located to the right or left of the gear shifter, laying flat, inset into the carpeted area of the console below the radio panel. I've never seen one mounted in the four switch area towards the back of the console. What source are you using that says it's mounted back there?
Do you have sound from the front door speakers? |

if you have one, it's located to the left between the gear shift and the stereo for US models. _________________ '82 931

You sure you don't own a Subaru?
J/K
I don't get the ashtray under the oil pressure gauge set up. Can you find a picture on the web of your console and post the url here or a photo? (Don't ask me how.) You're right, something sounds very confusing here.
EDIT: If you go to this url http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6431&item=2438027951
and page down and click on the picture that shows the gear shift, your switch would be right next to the stick shift, below the radio face plate, laying flat on the carpeted area there. (This picture doesn't show the switch because it's an '82 turbo. But on the 924S that's the only place I've ever known the factory roll-style switch to be. Not that it couldn't be someplace else of course, espcially if a P.O. installed it.) |

This has been a confusing topic as it appears that some folks are guessing as to the location of the switches (what follows is based on the 1987 924S)
Where the fader switch is located on the 924, the 924S has a switch that operates the power sunroof. There is no fader switch as this should exist on the more modern factory stereo.
As the driver is sitting, the center cosole switches (924S) from the left are:
1) Mirror select toggle to adjust mirrors
2) Headlight washer (or blank)
3) Blank
4) Rear wiper switch (or blank)
Hope this helps. _________________ -Stu
