|
|
| Hello. I started bleeding my brakes this afternoon. I got three done using the standard two man method and was more then a little ticked to find that my last bleeding nipple (front left) has been stripped. I haven't taken the wheel off yet to check on it but it feels rounded. The peddle has firmed up quite a bit now with only three brakes done. Iv looked at a Diagram and it seems that I should just be able to unscrew the stripped bleeding nipple completely and then screw a new one back in. Does anyone know if there is anything more complicated to this procedure? Is there any other tips? Can I pick up a bleeding nipple at the ports store or do I need to talk to a porsche dealership? Thanks, Michael. |

Be careful heating - brake fluid is flammable! Start with some penetrating oil, then vicegrips. Yes, screw-in replacements are readily available at the parts store in metric sizes. Likewise bleeder screw dust caps are available (I scam mine from work ) _________________ Vaughan Scott

| WD-40 left for a while then a couple of sharp (not too hard) taps on the end with a hammer worked on mine with, as mentioned, a set of plumbers pliers. |

| okay, im going to stay away from the propane torch for now. I couldn't find speedbleeders in town so im simply installing a new nipple. Should arrive today from there downtown location. Im going to spay on a little penetrating oil and try unscrewing with as little pressure as possible. |

| Nipple installtion went very well, got the other nipple off with no trouble using vicegrips and a little wd40. Once off the new one screwed right in place, I was worried about overtightening so I tightened the nipple until I could feel some resistance and gave it a 3/4 rotation. Just need to rebleed the brake system now. |

the other thing you can think of doing is putting VERY light amounts of antisieze on the threads of the nipple and after the brakes have been bled putting a coating of the antisieze compound on the nipple, I know it will pick up dirt dont worry about this, it will stop the metal from pitting, if you are worried about it just brushing off then either make sure there is no brake fluid around and heat it up to burn a coating onto the nipple, this will stop pitting and corrosion to the nipple _________________ 3 928s, |
