I need a fair answer here... Im fallen in love witht the great charmes of a porsche 924. Cant help my self anymore. There is a dealer in my town who has a porsche 924S for sale from 1982. Got about 180000 Km thats about erm... 10000 miles i guess.. Now im a real newbie with porsches, and the only thing i know out the car is that i really like the looks of it. Its a rather fair price i guess its 2950 Euros. Every1 is tellin me not 2 buy the car cause its expensive in maintenace.. Now is it? or just a expensive as any other car? Plz help me out here....

First of all the car you are looking at is not a 924S. It is a Series I 924 (produced between 1976-1985 for the RoW). It has a 125hp engine in RoW trim.
There was a version of the Series I 924 marketed as the 924S model, but it still had the 2.0L 125hp engine, and was infact a Series I 924, not a 924S with the 2.5L 944 engine.
The 924S was built for the RoW market between 1986-1988. It has a 2.5L engine from the 944, and early (944 type running gear) with the original 924 interior (the 944 and 951 got a new interior in 85/2). |

| Dennis, make sure you do your homework!!! I got burned last year and I'm still paying for it. Run a check on the history, put it on a hoist and have a Porsche mechanic spend as much time with it as he wants. I fell in love with a 924 too and I have trouble looking at it some times just from what it cost me and knowing what it will cost me in the future. |

It's a 2.0L 4-cylinder, not a 5-cylinder. The 924 is considerably (probably 50% or more) cheaper to maintain than a 924S. I couldn't tell you if that is a fair price or not, but 924's in the US generally sell for $1000-$2500. _________________ Jon Furst |
