I found my exhaust leak, my J pipe is cracked and I need to replace it. Anyone have the part #? I think it might be 931 123 033 04 but I am not sure. Anyone know where I can get one cheap?

dare i say it... autoatlanta has been advertising them on ebay for around $30. i picked one up, it's an ESP part not original porsche. no problems with shipping or anything. the quality doesn't look quite as good as the original but i don't know where you would find the original. the PET doesn't even give the part number. i'll look up the number on mine sometime today when i get a chance.

i called autoatlanta and they have the pipe plus gaskets, $75.00 US for the whole thing. you sounded a little reserved when recommending their services. are they bad mojo?

search the board for AA or auto atlanta, never dealt with them but from what I understand they aren't all that great

They get a bad wrap which may be justified but I have dealt with them and never had a problem. I say if they have it at a good price go for it!

"Wastegate Line" 931.123.033.04 It should be illustration item number 28, NOT item number 2b. You might also shop around and try http://www.partsheaven.com or http://www.pap-parts.com for a salvage piece. Can't you weld the crack?

by the looks of the pipe the PO had it welded or at least tried to. work looks very poor. better off just replacing it. thanks for the info.

here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2416345822&category=33633

i don't know what makes it worth $70 if you call them. you can get the gaskets through performancemotorcars.com for pretty cheap.

good luck

i have a total new respect for those of you who have successfully removed the turbo.

i finally got my new waste gate exhaust pipe installed. there is absolutely no room down there. plus i think i am leaking a little oil somewhere above the turbo. i need to clean off some stuff first to find the leak. other than that she is all back together and running. i will be road testing her hard this afternoon to see how she boosts with the exhaust leak fixed.

FYI - i had no problems with autoatlanta

it isn't as bad as a ford bobcat station wagon, but yah there isn't alot of room, also the oil leak is probably coming from the oil tube attached to the top side of the head of the oil line running to the pop off valve

cool i will check that oil line tonight. i discovered yet another exhaust leak when installing the waste gate pipe, a small crack in the exhaust manifold, not bad but it is going to drive me crazy knowing it is there. i am going to need one of these soon, any body have a extra they want to sell, will be posting this in the parts section.

i am still going to have to pull my turbo sometime soon and get a rebuild. she blows blue smelly smoke for the first few minutes in the morning. after that no smoke, only after i let the car sit for sometime ( overnight ). i am pretty sure it is the turbo unit itself that is causing the smoke. very embarrassing when warming the car up next to neighbors going to have to get up a little earlier. i really like the way this car handles compared to my 924. i think the disc brakes make a big difference. i just need to get used to the turbo spoil up. sometimes it wants to boost when i am in between shifting.

It could be valve seals also, don't forget.

do a compression check on the 931 and it should give you some indication as to what the issue is

yah there were tablespoons of oil sitting down in there, you can take the intake turbine housing off with turbo in place and confirm it is the turbo, but if it is the charge tube will have an oil coating in it, and there might even be puddles, but mine was the opposite of yours, when actually driving it was fine, at idle it would smoke, and only when warm
