|
|
| Are 944 body parts (oem/aftermarket) (hood, wings, sunroof, all glass, etc) interchangable with the 1980 Porsche 924. And also is the Carrera GT Conversion kit able to switch pieces too? Thanks! |

No, not entirely the same - if they were, they'd have the same part numbers! However there is a lot of interchangeability. Aftermarket stuff tends to be more universal than factory. Perhaps you can be more specific about what you plan to change - then we could provide better guidance. Till then, you may or may not get lucky, don't blame us. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Here are the parts from GT Racing:
944/924 Front Bumper (222, is this street legal?)
944/924 Rear Bumper (230, same question)
944 Sunroof (968, is this all I need for my sunroof?)
944 Rear Window 3/16" (124)
944 Front Windshield 1/4" (125)
944 Rear Quarter Panel Windows 1/8' (127)
924/944T/944 Hood (270)
I am planning on using the car as a daily car and on the weekends in track for drifting. Are all these parts legal for street/road use? I may have more parts that I might be thinking of using, going to keep you all up to date and thanks! |

| the front and rear bumpers are for "racing only", which means that no, they are not street legal when sold on a new car.......as for getting caught by the DMV, that is not much of an issue, they don't usually actually inspect anything much like that (at least here in Oregon). It more depends on how comfortable you are with the possibility that if somebody hits you they are going to total your car. All the other parts you mentioned will work EXCEPT for the sun roof (but you shouldn't need to change that if you already have one....they are fiberglass or aluminum stock, so they are already really light. |

Hey guys,
I have one Euro front bumper for sale. I got one for Jesse Wall and Rick McLaren. I have one left. You see I order three at a time.
It just needs light sanding and you are ready for paint.
Weight about 11 lbs vs. about 28 lbs min. US -17 lbs
Mounts about 8 oz vs. 3.5 lbs for the US shocks - 6 lbs
Large US rubber - 7 lbs
total -30 lbs.
Accommodates fog lights vs. US has no openings and looks nicer in my opinion.
regards to all. |

| Thanks for the input guys, I don't think I'll use the bumpers since they are not actually street legal. Don't want to take any chances. Thanks all. |

I don't think they're illegal to use on the street. I can't find anything in the California vehicle code that would require bumpers to remain stock in either size, materials, or crash protection; only that they have to be there. I suspect most states are this way, since California is overboard on just about everything car-related. _________________ Jon Furst |
