Just got my lexan hatch... going to try to get a weight on it when I get home...
Next step, get my fiberglass hood, then bumpers and doors... _________________ Vaughan Scott

curious, are you just replacing the existing hatch glass? or have you made a lighter hatch frame. Also will you be adding in the defroster lines afterwards? _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

LOL... no, my ex-wife was the anorexic... I was the bad influence, naturally 6' and 150lbs... she hated me, I think...
The plan is to install this in a stock hatch frame in replacement of a shattered stock glass panel - after a bad off on someone else's car. This is purely for racing, so no defrost function necessary.
Stock glass panel was 46lbs (glass only, not with hatch frame). This one weighs, I dunno, like 5 lbs. _________________ Vaughan Scott

WHAT WHERE & HOW MUCH$$$$$$ ?
Not trying to get personal just looking for a lightweight back glass for less than the $600.00 that GT wants. Have you cut in the qtr windows yet? also Sunroof stock 22 lbs- Lexxan & hardware so light you have to bolt it in to keep it from floating away. Thanks in advance for the answers. _________________ 86 924S + 86 944T = one big smile

Joe- I've moved to an aftermarket aluminized exhaust using a high flow muffler and a resonator tip. I love the sound. On the track my 951 is silent. Its incredible- barely even a sound at full accelleration. Very tough to drive when you are used to listening to your engine.
Prior to the exhaust change the 924S was similar. I really apreciate using aural imput as another driving tool. Takes me back to my moto-X days. I don't know how we got onto this thread.
Anyways Porsche decided that power and quiet were positive drive qualities- probably in the mid 80s. the exhaust must be heard. _________________ 86 924S + 86 944T = one big smile

Hey, sorry I haven't been paying attention... focused on racing and work... anyway, the hatch is like $325 (maybe a bit more if you want it tinted)...
Here's the info:
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=5599
Make sure you arrange the shipping details - I ended up paying for air freight, would've liked to have had it shipped just regular ground freight (assuming that's even an option)...
I will have to strap down this hatch to keep it from blowing out, yet. I will not be bothering with the side windows, they're too inconsequential to worry about yet (not enough weight saved yet to warrant the cost).
Lightening the sunroof is easy. You do realize that it's fiberglass, right? Just remove the inner panel. _________________ Vaughan Scott

yea my aural sensativity is goin down the more I drive ..
no its not that loud its a hotrod sound....Carbon monoxide leakage
the corvair had this problem I think off of my header theres a collector
its holding up pretty good I can keep it sealed..Ive been thinking of getting
another type of clamp I saw in a performance mag. its a collar thats
a little bigger than the pipe and it is held in place with a 4 bolts
like a big clam shell clamp. though not as exspensive as these here
on this link.
