Snagged off of rennlist - there's a guy in Sweden making and selling them. I'd never do it, YMMV, Caveat Emptor and all that, but I'm cross-posting since I know some of you have been waiting for them.

My name is Patrick and I live in Stockholm, Sweden.

About a year ago I really wanted clear front indicators for my 1979 931, I felt that the
orange lenses made the car look at least 10 years older than it felt.

I looked everywhere. I even contacted Hella in Germany, but noone was producing these.
Therefore I decided to start my own production!

Now I am selling these lenses, made for the 924 and 944 n/a.

So far I have not really advertized them abroad, as I was not sure how to handle
payment. At the moment I am waiting for an answer from PayPal where they give me the
cost of exchanging and transfering money.

I have pictures of cars with the lenses on:
http://medlem.spray.se/p931/white

Price: 720SEK, which at the moment is about $ 80. Shipping is about $ 5.

The problem I have with this mod (besides the $80 bucks for a color change) is the mismatch created with the side markers and rear lens.

well first delete the side markers off the vehicle and then switch over to 968 rear lenses (don't know if the 968 lenses will bolt up or not but will update look

968 rear lenses won't fit. but I dunno. My car is 15 years old, and I kinda like the look of the amber lenses. it makes the car scream "I'M OLD! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!" which, I like. but hey. that's me.

Yeah, it's pretty not bad, though I wouldn't do it myself. Keep in mind, of course, he's got a Euro car, with no round side reflectors...

that is when you cut a smal circle of steel and weld it in or fiberglass up the side markers

Another thing to think about is that these are euro lenses. They have a different shape than their US counterparts. The US lenses are completely flat while the Euros are thicker on the top by about 3/4-1in. to match the contour of the bumper and the driving lights. Also before you spend the $ you should check and see how badly rusted the insides of your lights are.

Hey all!

Just wanted to let you know that I have opened a PayPal account and will be able to take orders and send lenses starting next week.

To answer your questions:

Another Swedish guy is starting production of clear round side markers, his name is Joakim and he is already producing lenses to the 951. I could talk to him about package deals. The rear lens can be spray painted red with styling spray. Looks great.

Are you sure about the different shape? I have heard that the lenses are the same. The reflector can be a little rusty, but that is easily fixed when painting the black plastic and installing the glass.

Ok.

What happens when trying to install euro lenses? Do they fit at all? What about the 944, is it the same there? Here, 924 and 944 use the same...

Thanks,
Patrick

Here are links to the lights the first is the American one. The second one is the Euro. Yes they will fit the american housings (they are the same). You will have to copy the links and paste them in your browser, geocities is not link friendly.

1. Yes, a real 951 Cup!
2. At the moment 0 hp. New engine: expected 350 rwhp, old engine 224.6 rwhp.
3. Tullinge Raceway.

Thanks! Will Euro lenses look funny with US bumpers?
