Looking for a source for the rubber weather stripping for the 924's wholesale (ie by the roll etc) versus the likes of Tweeks.

I got a bunch from jcwhitney, looks like really quality stuff. It was $29 or so for a roll of 25 feet (I also got their $15 boost gauge and it is pretty good too). I definetly recomend what they have. I got style 8 on the following page:

The only problem I had was that the roll I got wasn't enough to do the hatch (though it is PERFECT for that) and both the doors. |

Alex: GREAT find! I keep seeing those hatch seals on ebay for $60-70 and in the catalogs, too. Nice to know we can get that for alot less AND do the doors, too.
THANKS! |

| Yes Joe, get two rolls of #8 for both the doors and the rear hatch. |

Yep, I have redid my rear hatch twice over the years with JC Whitney seal. Works fine, lasts a long time. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

The late 80 to early 90s camaro hatch seal is thicker and real nice profile from what I recall and it is a little longer than the 924.
Somone check it out and let us know _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

Man, I dunno... I got new OEM seals for the hatch and sunroof on my '82. Sure, expensive at $70 each. But I was blown away by the quality of them, and the degree to which they're engineered. I was impressed, and think they're worth $70. It's not just a piece of extruded rubber you glue on. It's a completely engineered system of rubber and plastic and metal, just clips right on, seals great. I think they really did a much better job with the seals for the 944 (which is of course what you get now, they superseded the junk 924 seals).
Just my $0.04 _________________ Vaughan Scott

| I have to agree with Vaughan as to the quality and fit of the OEM weather stripping. It is not just rubber, it also has a metal band in it to keep its strength. Try getting a used one in good condition from a 944. I picked up one at the Hershey Meet two years ago for $ 5-10 bucks. Installed it on my 931. Hint: use 3M weather stripping adhesive remover and then 3M adhesive (I bought both from carcareonline.com) |
